Pesky Virus!!!!!!!!!!!

Image
I have no idea why these Trojan viruses keep on popping up on my computer. I already quarantined quite a few and it seems there's no stopping them. It's a good thing my virus shield intercepts them before they can wreak havoc on my computer but it's really irritating...and scary I must admit. Everytime I see the warning 'threat 'detected' I close the browser as soon as possible thinking the virus will do damage to my computer if I don't close the browser. I thought it's because of my browser that the virus gets in. I was still using Netscape up until a few days ago. I'm just used to it so I thought of just sticking to it even if it's no longer supported by a lot of sites. After a couple of times of being attacked by the virus, I switched to Internet Explorer and Google Chrome alternately. It didn't do any good since I'm still seeng the virus pops up almost daily. Ugh!

Uniforms

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I didn’t have a charmed life growing up. My parents were almost always struggling to make both ends meet…but we survived. Yes we had lots of love and care among us but we couldn’t deny the fact that we were missing a lot of basic necessities some days. This is the reason why I was thankful that I had to wear uniforms when I was in high school and college. At least I didn’t have the feeling of inferiority since we were all wearing the same type of clothes. It wouldn’t have mattered in high school whether we had uniforms or not because my classmates in high school and I were in the same spectrum as far as social status is concerned. But such was not the case in college. I went in an exclusive school for girls and majority of my classmates were either in the middle or rich category so I liked wearing uniform . Since one of my brothers only gets paid the minimum salary, we sometimes volunteer to help him with his kids school needs. His kids are either in high s
Bad Day
It's a song originally sang by David Powter. It became very popular when American Idol used it as a theme song for the eliminated contestants and was played while showing the different highlights of the eliminated contestant at the end of the show. The Chipmunks sang it in the Alvin & the Chipmunks movie and since the time that the little one saw this in the DVD , she's been singing it on and off. Recently though it's the ONLY song she's been singing....like 100x a day. She sings it quite well but she tries to sing it like the Chipmunks!!!!!!!!!!!! Arrghhh.... I already told her she cannot watch that DVD again until she stops copying the chipmunks! It's funny for the first few times but it gets annoying afterwards. I still hear her humming it but that's okay...as long as she does not sound like the chipmunks...
Bad Decision
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As always, the weekend just breezed through us that we barely felt it. We had a relatively pleasant weekend though. We just stayed home and ate junk foods. The little one couldn't be any more excited since she's deprived of junk foods around here. I did very little work and so did the husband. Both of us spent some time on the phone though. I was able to talk and catch up with a friend who is now on the West coast for a business conference. It's been a while since the last we spoke on the phone so it was great talking with her. The hubby spoke with a friend as well who is now in the process of selling his newly-renovated house. I was actually surprised to learn that they're selling. Apparently, the mortgage just became too much for them. This is the same person who just recently retired trying to find ways to invest his retirement money so I actully suggested that they buy gold bullion some months ago. He wanted something secure and gold is secu

Wishing You A...

It's a sunny Sunday around here this morning. Of course that can change in a split second. That's just how it is in the sunshine state during summer...and the rest of the year. The weather is quite unpredictable. Anyway, our weekend has been uneventful so far. It's quiet in the work front and we're taking it easy on the home front. I just got off the phone with a friend who's visiting a sister in the West coast. It's great to talk with her for long period of time and get caught up with what's happening with our respective lives. Oh...and I also became a grandmother for the 3rd time courtesy of another niece. Actually, hubby said I'm a great-aunt. Not quite sure which is better...grandmother 0r great-aunt. The word 'great' just makes it sound like I'm ancient...which I am....almost anyway. I haven't seen any of my 'grandchildren' but I'm hoping to see them sooner or later. That's about it. I stll have a few tasks to finish

'Oficina de la Casa'

Image
A quick peek at our little home office. We still haven't had the chance to organize it so pardon the mess. The book shelves are still empty since the books are all over the house [boxes in the garage included] so I decided to put the framed pictures of the little one and her 'art works' on display. Dad said it's too 'busy' with all the pictures but the little one said...it looks great!! Hahaha...I guess she admires her work and her pictures more than we know, eh? Now I look like a receptionist in an office whenever I sit on my chair. See the little pink paper on the table? The little one made it. It has my name on it....LOL....you just gotta' love her, right?

This is For You...

Envy....

Image
...is one of the deadly sins, isn't it? I guess I'm somehow committing it because I really envy that person in the picture. That's all I want to do right now after a very hectic weekend. But it's not happening anytime soon so I'll just sit here and be all envious of whoever is sitting on that chair enjoying the endless blue sky and water. While doing that, I will also do my own kind of relaxing...online shopping. Ha! Not really shopping...just browsing. I am in one of my favorite online clothing stores looking at some vintage t shirts that are on sale right now. I just bought a few shirts about a month ago so I don't really know if I should be buying more. It's just that vintage shirts seem to be my latest 'thing' lately. I'm not sure how long it will last but I can't seem to get enough of them. I even got the little one some in my last online shopping 'spree'. Maybe I should get off line for now and just watch TV so I won't be t

Pond?

Image
In front of our house? That's what it looks like, right? Actually, it's just water from a heavy rain yesterday afternoon. It rained so much that it looked like we had a small pond by the front. We also had a small puddle on our back porch so the little one had a few minutes of fun. What's with puddles and little kids anyway? She can't seem to resist the urge to stomp on it whenever she sees a rain puddle... The rain lasted less than an hour but it dumped 6 inches of rain according to the weather people on TV. The people around here got a wee bit excited and started taking pictures...yep, including us. LOL.... It's actually raining while I'm typing and it looks like we're going to have a repeat of yesterday which is not good. Yes, the grass needs watered but it almost drowned yesterday. Our neighbor's backyard still looks muddy from where I'm standing so it can only get worse if it rains as hard as it did yesterday. Maybe we should start singing...&

Build & Rebuild

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of the things I try to avoid as much as I can is to have any kind of credit. I just don’t like the feeling of owing money to anyone. This was the prime reason I tried to hold out in getting a credit card when I was still in the Philippines and Taiwan. My reasoning then was if I can’t pay for it in cash, then I won’t just buy it until I can afford it. It was less stressful like that as far as I’m concerned. Since I didn’t have any credit card I didn’t have to worry with things like credit card rebuilding or anything pertaining to credit cards. Plain and simple. Today, I have a couple of credit cards. It turns out credit cards and credit history is a big factor where I’m at now. I don’t need credit cards to rebuild credit but I need credit cards to build my credit history. I caved in after a year of being here and got me a credit card. Why? It’s because we decided to have a house built. To do that, the bank for the mortgage would have to check my c
Empty
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My brain. Empty. I guess I've used it too much this weekend that I feel like it's drained out of any juice. Does that even make sense? I guess I better call it a day and just join the hubby in watching football. As much as I want to finish all my tasks online...it's just not possible because I'm coming up empty. It took me 20 minutes to even come up with the title and what did I come up with? EMPTY...pathetic, eh? Anyway, I've done enough work for the day already [I think] so it's just fair to let my poor computer rest a little earlier than usual. Here's a glimpse of what our week looks like during summer...

New Computer

Image
A new computer is now in the 'to buy list' as of ASAP. Well, not really that soon but we are already starting to read computer reviews so we know which one we should get once we decide to get a new one. Right now we have 4 computers and a netbook. Yep, 4...but we don't use 2 of them. One is our oldest PC which is about 5 or 6 years old, maybe older. Hubby said we should probably sell it in one of those online auction for 10 bucks...LOL. The other one we don't use is my old laptop. It still works fine when it's working but there are times that it just suddenly shuts down. We don't really know what's wrong with it but I'm having a hard time parting with it that's why we still have it. Maybe in time I'll be able to part ways with it...or not. Maybe the little one can just inherit it, eh? Anyway, we still don't know what type of computer we will be getting. We're still debating whether we'll get a PC or just another laptop. We are lean

Trying HARD to...

Image
Yep, I'm trying but it's proving to be not that easy....for now anyway. We're still on a deadline so every break I take is accompanied with guilt. The weather here today was a wee bit crazy. It rained quite a bit early in the morning which is a good thing because the grass in the yard need it badly. The downside....my allergy acts up when there's a sudden change in weather especially if the changes happen in a matter of hours. So my BFF when this happens...allergy pills. Anyway, we still a day to go before this weekend is over. Hopefully, tomorrow will be more relaxing than today....fingers crossed, of course.

Our Weekend...

Image
Busy. Me working, the hubby working...both on the computer. We haven't even had the chance to re-arrange the home office furniture so it's still a wee bit in disarray. I still have to dig up some books in boxes so I can put them in the shelves. Just thinking about it is making me tired already. Anyway, we may head out tomorrow to look for a program that hubby wants to get. He tried looking online for it but he can't find the one he wants so we might try looking at the stores near here. Maybe we can finally use the reward card we have of an electronic store to buy that program. We originally planned in using it to buy a netbook but they didn't have the netbook that we wanted so we ended up buying one online. I think we have enough points in the card to get the program free...that is if we find the one that we want.

What Can I Say....

Image
Yep, another one is here. Any big plans for the weekend? We don't have any as usual. We like to do it spur of the moment. This week went fast - I think. I've been busy with a lot of stuff so I wasn't able to blog much. I'll be blogging more towards the weekend since I have some tasks I need done. Finally, the home office furniture arrived. It's still a little chaotic in our small home office but we're getting there. Our 'home office' became a dumping ground for some stuff so we're now looking for another 'dumping' ground...hehe. That's it for now. Enjoy your Friday!

Another Year...

Image
...and we're still alive and kicking! We made it! It's been 9 years since we exchanged 'I DOs'. I could never ask for a better partner in crime....err, life. Happy anniversary to my [k]night in shining armor.....

Live & Learn...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We get a lot of junk mails in our mail box on a daily basis. A lot of them are offers for insurance. Yesterday we got one for car insurance that just made us laugh out loud. Why? It says that it can save us a lot of money. That’s not the funny part though. The annual savings they quoted was higher than what we’re paying our insurance company for a whole year. In other words, if we take their offer, they will be paying US instead. I guess we can make money out of them then, eh? Anyway, we are always on the look-out for a cheaper car insurance . We pay our current car insurance company every six months instead of annually so we can easily switch if we come across something better. We learned our lesson already so we ask different companies for car insurance quotes on a regular basis. I think that’s the best way to do it to be assured that we’re not being taken. We thought we had the best deal for our car insurance a few years ago but we realized t
Why DON'T I Drive?
Image
That's why!! I'm afraid I might come across that one and I may never be able to make it home. Tee hee... I've been having a lazy Sunday afternoon so I thought I'd look at some funny pictures online. The little one is busy tracing leaves [she said she's making a book of leaves?] while the hubby is watching Pre-season football. Yep, it's that time of the year again where men across the country will be glued on the tube every weekend and Monday nights. Anyway, I gotta' get up from here and start thinking about the answer to the most popular question in my household...'What's for dinner, Mom ?' or 'What's for dinner, Hon?'...depending who's hungrier....LOL...
A Bit Late...
Image
But I hope you... It's almost over but better than never, right? I didn't have the chance to update much earlier because we were out for the most part. At least we're able to accomplish some things that we've been putting off for quite a while now so I'm a happy camper. Yesterday, we went out a bit late. We've been planning to take the little one bowling and we finally did it yesterday. It was her first time to bowl so it was both funny and exciting. The balls at the bowling lane we went to were a bit heavy for her so she mostly tossed the ball. It was also my first time to bowl. I used to watch friends in college but I never really picked up a ball until yesterday. Surprising I know but I that's me. We had a good time so I'm sure we're going to do that again in the near future. I know the little one wants to go back again next week....LOL...
Answer...
Image
to the Burning Question .... Oh yes it is!!!! And you know what that means....WEEKEND is just a sleep away! I think I won't be able to sleep because of excitement. LOL! Nah.....I've been turning in late again in the past few nights that I'd probably sleep through the weekend. Speaking of Friday...did you know it's Friday the 13th today? I didn't even realize it until I saw a message in my chat box. Not that I care anyway but it's interesting how many people actually pay attention to it. According to Wikipedia, there is at least 1 Friday the 13th every year but it can be as many as 3 some years. Hmmm....it's a good thing I don't really think about it or it will be another reason for me to WORRY about, eh?
Worry Wart
Image
That's me. I worry about everything. I try not to but sometimes I can't help it. I worry about trivial things sometimes but sometimes my worries are justified. So what do I worry about? Hmmmm....I worry about the little one, the husband and myself. But those are not the only things I worry about. I even worry if the deadbolt locks around the house are all locked at night almost every night so I sometimes get up in the middle of the night just to check. Health is probably my biggest worry. Not only my health but everyone in my family especially the little one's. One time after she got sick the day/night before I heard her ask Dad..'why does Mommy worry so much about me?' Dad's reply: Because that's what Mommies do. That's true I guess but I remember being like this even when I was still in grade school. There are times I wish I don't worry as much since it's not a good feeling but that's not me. I guess I would have to live with it then, eh?
Slow Start
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's a few minutes past noon and I haven't done much. I've been on the computer since 9 this morning but I can't seem to do any work at all. Ugh! I have laundry in the dryer and I'm in the middle of making the grocery list but that's about it. I still have to find that perfect office desk that I want because the ones I found are either too big for the space we have or not good enough for my taste. There are thousands of them out there so I wonder why we can't seem to find 'the one'. I'll keep on looking online but if I don't find something today, we may just find one in the local stores around here. In the meantime I am also looking for some jewelry making tools for the little one. We got her a jewelry making kit a few months ago and she likes it very much. She's on the artistic side [no thanks to me of course] so she enjoys putting things together like little bracelets and necklaces. Since the kit we got her

A Burning Question....

Image
Almost, right? Actually, it's already Friday in some parts of the globe. It won't be long before this much awaited day of the week will be here as well. Today isn't so bad work-wise anyway. Our server is down so I've been bumming around for a few hours now. I still have some work that I need to do but I got some much-needed free time. The weather has been good as well. It's been raining every now and then but it only lasts for about 5 minutes. The grass in our yard is definitely loving the showers throughout the day because it's all green now. The brown patches are almost gone. The container garden that I have is almost gone. I only have 1 tomato with few fruits and 2 small okra plants. The others, I already uprooted them last weekend because they're starting to wilt already. They served their purpose already. Not sure if I'll do that again though. The bugs just 'bugged' me too much. Also, I want to have a real garden next time and not the contai

Working Harder by the Minute

Image
That's basically what a lot of us are doing right now. Many people skip on taking time off work because of the unstable economy. I can't blame them. News of people losing everything because of the economic crisis is something way too real for most of us. No one is safe it seems so we try to work as much as we can 'just in case'. Yes we're able to save a little bit more but eventually, we have to take a break and breathe. I for one feel like I'm burning the candle both ways. But we have to do what we have to in order to somehow secure our future. This is also the reason why I am bent in finding ways to invest the little savings we have. Finding a good investment nowadays though is proving to be difficult. It seems the safest way to go now is to buy bullion either in gold or in silver. I'm sure there are other ways to invest but it's scary. Gold and silver are proven to stay strong even during the tough times. But is it a good idea to invest in one thing

Relax...

Image
This is what I keep telling myself...tee hee. I'm extra tired this week and I have no idea why. Well, maybe I do. It's that time of the month again, if you know what I mean. Anything planned for the weekend? No here. We don't usually plan anything for the weekend unless we need to. Last weekend we thought of taking the little one bowling but we weren't able to. The reason....rain! It was dark for the most part of the day so we decided not to head out. Maybe this weekend we can do that. We're not telling the little one because she won't rest until it's done. We still have 2 full days of work before the weekend hits so I better start doing something that translates to moolah. In the meantime, enjoy your day. Ciao!

HSA

Image
The neverending hunt for an affordable insurance continues. The husband mentioned last night that an insurance agent was coming to talk to him today...and she did. He came home with some brochures to read which I'm sure will be left unread just like the many others he brought home. Hubby told me that the one offered to him today was more expensive than what we already have so we're staying put...for now anyway. Just like a lot of other health insurance, this last one offers lower monthly premium IF we raise the deductible. If we want to go that route, having a higher deductible, then we better get what is known as a health savings account or HSA. As the name implies, it's some sort of a savings account only in a different way. I have yet to read more about it but I must say that it is becoming more and more appealing to me if only because of the aspect that the money we save on premiums will actually go to our very own savings and not to the money hungry insurance companie

Breaking the Monotony

Image
... of my day so I'm blogging away today. I've been in front of my computer since early this morning doing some work both paid and unpaid. Every now and then I stop to read news online but it gets a little bit boring doing that so I decided to do some tasks instead. I feel exactly the same way as Garfield in that picture. I wish I can also lounge on the couch like him but I can't. So many things to do with so little time. Our boss just released some more work so I need to start doing that soon. Maybe later. Some dishes and pots are also waiting on me in the kitchen. I wish I have a magic wand so I can just do one 'swoosh' and everything will be clean...but what's the thrill in that, right?

Investing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back when I was still single and working full-time, I was always thinking of ways to invest. My choices back then were either real estate or invest in a business that a friend put up. Neither materialized. My friend [and her partners] decided to close down the business because competition got stiff and it wasn't making any money so I was left with the real estate. I got really close in buying a row house in a subdivision where a friend bought her house. I only needed a few more paperworks to close the deal but I backed out at the last minute. I can no longer remember why but I'm glad I didn't push through with it because I got married not too long after that deal fell through. Today, investing in real estate is probably not the best way because of the shape it is in. I would rather buy gold coins before I put money in a new house or any real estate at this point in time. Aside from the obvious, the coins can be sold a lot faster than a house to
Get-a-way...
Badly. Needed. While playing in the little one's room 2 weekends ago, I just blurted out...we need a vacation. The husband's reply? I believe you're right. LOL. I guess both of us are feeling some kind of burned out already since it's been years since we actually went somewhere for more than a day. Originally, we planned in visiting the Phils earlier this year but that fell through because of work. That trip is out of the question at least for this year so we need to look into going either out of state or just somewhere here in our own state. One of the things I'm looking at are different Disney vacation packages and that's for several reasons. First, it's within driving distance but mostly because the little one wants to see Disney again. As for me, I only want to go somewhere beside the kitchen, the living room and the backyard. Hopefully, we will be able to take a trip ASAP. I'm seriously in need of fresh air and a break!
Dinner ideas...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Back in the Philippines, the belief [or joke, maybe?] is you're ready to get married once you can cook already. If that belief is applied to me, I will never be ready to be married. I barely cooked when I was single so it was a big adjustment to me once I found myself in-charge of the kitchen day-in, day-out. I remember cooking mostly potatoes during the first year I was married. The husband told me then that his co-worker would make it a guessing game as to what kind of potato dish he'd bring to work for his lunch. Anyway, after almost 10 years...nothing changed much. I'm still baffled almost everday as to what I should make for dinner. I'm not much into experimentation especially if it involves food. I tend to be discouraged easily as well. If my first attempt on something fails, I rarely try it another time. I'd rather look for another recipe to try. If I'm successful with a particular recipe, chances are....that recipe will be repeat

Gold

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If diamond is a girl's best friend, gold bullion, or any form of gold for that matter, is probably a good investor's best friend. It's a common knowledge that gold has held its ground in terms of stability amidst all the economic turmoil we're experiencing at the moment. Its value has stayed more or less the same even if everything around it continues to devaluate. I personally don't have any gold investments beside the usual gold jewelry but the husband and I are thinking of maybe investing in some in the future. My father was very much interested in gold bullion himself. I remember him bringing home some pictures and brochures about gold that a friend gave him because he wanted my father to invest in them. Unfortunately, we didn't have the money to invest in anything during those days. My father was the only one working and what he was making then was barely enough to provide for us. It would have been great if he was able to buy
Weekend Past
Image
It's midweek again! I've been spending less and less time here in my blog lately and yes, it's the usual reason...work! It's still busy and our boss is actually happy because we're finally meeting the daily quota that we need in order to keep the customer happy. Yay! The weekend went by fast here. We planned in doing something but that's all it was...a plan. It rained hard on Sunday so we scrapped the plan and just stayed at home. Maybe this weekend. I was able to call family back home though. I haven't talked to them in months. I'm trying to cut on the long distance calls because it's getting a wee bit expensive. I called last weekend because one of my nieces is about to pop anytime now. She's giving birth to our third 'grandchild'. I wasn't able to to talk her because she's staying with her in-laws. I spoke to my other nieces and nephews instead and one of them asked me about gmat prep courses being offered online. According to
Moving?
Image
It's only been more than 2 years since we moved in this house. So far, it's going ok. We're still lacking a lot of stuff but we're not in a hurry. We have what we need. Next week, the dinette we ordered will be delivered so we can get rid of our old dinette. With that being said, the husband and I just got talking about moving in another state. It's no secret to me that the hubby is not happy here in the sunshine state. That's greatly because of the hot weather. He's happiest when the temperature is in the 60s or lower. He said that if we don't have the 2 houses here, we would have moved already. So where does he want to move if ever we get the chance to? Washington, California, Oregon or North Carolina. Since we're not moving yet, we're just trying to explore, research and see what each state has to offer for a family like us. We're comparing things like a North Carolina health insurance to our present health insurance as well as the overal
Just Wonderin'
Image
Myspace Wednesday Graphics Hopefully, I'll be heard, eh? LOL... It's been a busy week again. I'm just taking a quick break from my monotonous job so I'm here updating this blog. Weather has been c-r-a-z-y as usual. It's usually scalding hot during the day, then it's pouring like crazy early in the evenings with matching thunder and lightning. Gotta' love summer weather, eh? It will be like this for about a month or so I'm sure. Then fall will be rolling in before we know it. But let's not jump the gun. I hope your summer is going on great. If you choose to stay out, make sure to either stay under the shades or use some kind of skin protection. Better be safe than sorry, right? Enjoy the rest of the week!
Brand New....
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...week, brand new month! It's August already? Before we know it, we will be welcoming 2011. Anyhooo....August is a special month for us here...that's according to the little one anyway. Why? It's our wedding anniversary month. It's going to be 9 years of 'wedded bliss'....achoo! Excuse me! LOL. We don't really do anything special on our anniversary except tease each other...like..."how did we last this long?" or "it's only been 9 years? I thought it's been 25!" LOL. It's all in good fun though. Who would have thought that our 'online' love affair will actually come this far? We did....tee hee.... Anyway, I was browsing for a good 'Monday' graphic. I couldn't help but laugh when all I found are 'negative' graphics....the exact opposite of the Friday graphics. Ha! What a surprise, eh? So to one and all....
