Buttercup Butterflies

Image
We see a few butterflies flying around our yard everyday and the buttercup butterfly is usually one of them. I think that's what they are anyway. Here's a picture I got from a site called Butterfly Utopia and they definitely look like this one.    Anyway, we've been having some cute encounters with these buttercup butterflies in the last couple of weeks whenever we're playing badminton. I don't know much about these cute creatures but it seems that everytime we see them flying around they're almost always chasing another butterfly [of their kind of course]. The little one said it's probably mating season. Hmmm??? Anyhooo...the shuttlecock that we use for our badminton games is yellow, much like the color of the butterflies. What do you know? Our shuttlecock is being chased by these buttercups. It's pretty cute actually that I wish I can capture it on video or take a picture of it. But how can I do that if I'm playing? I may just ask the hus

Rain, Rain and More Rain...

And did I say rain? That's how our first few days of Fall have been going. It's not continuous but it still keeps the ground pretty wet. Little one is not very happy because our afternoon games have been on hold since Sunday. Right now it's looking quite promising but we can't be too certain because the rain just pops on us much like the mushrooms that have been popping on our yard since last week. We have these white spots a.k.a. mushroom heads everywhere. If only they're edible, I'd be having mushroom for dinner every night...but they're not. This makes me think about how I used to hunt for mushrooms under our banana plants in our yard when I was growing up after a night time rain. Those mushrooms were definitely yummy. It still makes me salivate just thinking about how my mother would put them on top of cooking rice so I could have them for breakfast. Anyway, even though it's been raining a lot here, the temperature are still staying well above 80s

Ready and Available

...and hopefully, able. I'm referring to lawyers around here. It seems that there is a lawyer for everything nowadays. I mean if you need, say a san diego sexual harassment attorney , one will be available for you for sure. How can I be sure of that? The advertisements I see on TV. They run 24/7 around here. I actually think that's a good thing because you just never know when you're going to need one. I believe my husband finds the lawyers he hires through the yellow book. At least that's how he found the immigration lawyer we used when I moved here. Anyway, I just wish it's also like that back in the Philippines. Fortunately we never needed a lawyer when I was growing up but I can't help but wonder now how that would have gone if we needed one. There are no advertisements of any kind about lawyer there back then. I'm not quite sure about the present but I'm guessing nothing much has changed. It's a good thing I know a soon-to be lawyer now back hom

Summer Out! Fall In...

And it's a rainy first day of Autumn around here. The rain actually woke me up around 5 o'clock this morning. It stopped for a few hours but it started again about an hour ago. It's on and off now but it pours when it's on. If it continues to be like this then the little one and I won't be able to play badminton in the backyard later on. Oh well...we can always do it tomorrow. Just like the past couple of weekends, we're staying indoors this weekend. I still don't feel like going anywhere. My stomach is much better compared to how it felt a few days ago. I have to make small changes with my eating. I try to eat small meals every few hours. I'm still not consistent but I'm hoping I can get used to it and make it a habit. It seems to be helping that's why I want to keep on doing it. I just hope I can do it on a regular basis and not only when I have some tummy problems. I am hoping to feel a lot better as we welcome this new season. I'm qui

Rich with Coins?

We finally emptied the little one's piggy bank a few weeks ago. She's been waiting for that for a long time. We told her that we'd open it when the coin she's putting in couldn't get in anymore because it's so full. That happened so it was time to empty it. As soon as we dumped it all on her bed, she said that she's rich! Yep...rich with coins that is. We told her that she's not THAT rich yet unless she can find a bunch of silver dimes as well as other rare coins in the pile. She was up to the challenge and started sorting the coins right away. She got excited when she found something different from the pile. She thought she hit it big but it turned out that it's a token that got in the mix. I guess Dad gave her one without knowing that it's not a coin. Anyway, she already finished sorting the coins and she didn't find any silver dime or any other valuable coin. I guess she has to get rich the conventional way....work.

A Recurrence

Eversince I can remember I've always had a problem with digestion. I have 'gas' a lot of times and passing it is not very easy for me...unlike many people. I've never really consulted a doctor about it because it's something I've been living with since I was a little girl. Generally it does not affect my day to day functions but there are days when all I want to do is lay down because it's the only way I can get relief. There are some days though like the past few days that I get these terrible gas pains that even laying down cannot help. These are the times when I have to take something to relieve me of the pain. Some days the medicine works almost immediately, some days it takes forever. Today was more like the latter. I took the pill but the pain didn't go away as fast as I would like it to. It did go away eventually but I had to stop what I was doing because of the discomfort I was feeling. Ugh! Maybe it's time I ask a doctor about it. If it does

and then it's F-R-I-D-A-Y!!!!

It's been a long time coming. Well, 6 days to be exact since it was last here. Still, we wait for it like no other, right? So what have I been up to? Na-da! None. Nothing. Exciting life I have, eh? But it's fine with me. I have no problem with it. I've been doing the same thing day in day out with one exception this week. The little one and I were not able to play our daily 30-minute badminton games since Tuesday. Both our shuttlecocks gave out so we didn't have much choice but to rest our rackets for the meantime. Hopefully we'll be able to get replacements for them this weekend so we can do it again next week. Work has slowed down a wee bit for the man of the house so much so that he's been home for the past couple of weekends now. I'm not sure [yet] about this coming weekend but there's a bigger chance he'll also be home. As usual, we have no plans for the weekend but we were talking last week, I think, and we said that we should start taking

Laid Back Weekend

I stayed home all weekend long while hubby went to visit a friend and store [with the little one in tow]. I didn't want to go anywhere so I begged off not to go with them. I was just not in the mood to go anywhere so I stayed home and did some stuff around the house. And for the first time maybe in a year, I picked up my guitar again. Since I haven't played it for such a long time, I had to tune it again. That's probably the part I hate the most and that's because I don't have the ear to do it. I bought a tuner a couple of years ago but I already forgot how to use it...haha. Hubby looked for an app for guitar tuning and found one almost immediately. He installed it on my tablet and voila...problem solved. I'm not really good in playing the guitar. I can't just pick it up and start playing a song. I need a copy of the song complete with tabs of course. The little one sang along with me while I was playing but only for one song. At least I was able to accompan

The Hunt

Yep, we are on a hunt. For. A. Plaid. Skirt. And not just any plaid skirt. It's for a PURPLE plaid skirt. It's proving to be a very difficult task. I thought it won't be that hard to find it online but I'm wrong ~ so what else is new ~. I did find some online but they're either too expensive or too edgy for our taste. By the way, it's not for me. It's for the little one. So we decided to head out last Saturday to see if they have what we're looking for at the mall or at the stores outside of the mall. Nope. Well, sort of. Some stores have plaid skirts. Not just in the color she wants. We found one in a shop in the mall but it's more like a costume. It's a costume shop so what did I expect, eh? The color was right but the style, not quite. I was actually on the verge of buying it [because I was exhausted already] but we decided against it at the last minute. Still, we hid the skirt behind the other skirts just in case we decide to go for it. Well,

New Store

One of the things we did during the long weekend was to visit a newly opened store here in our area. I am not familiar with the store but hubby is and he's excited that they opened a branch near his place of work. It's not an upscale store. It's actually the opposite of that. The store sells everything from plants to electronics to clothes. We didn't buy anything but we roamed the whole store just to get an idea as to what they have. Hubby was elated to find a lot of supplies and paraphernalia for work like the black stallion gloves that they use at work as well as the big generator they have on display. He said he now knows where to go when he needs materials for work as well as supplies for home. I think we spent a good hour just walking this very spacious store. I believe they have a grand opening sale this weekend. Guess who's going?
