Cold Weather = Cold Sores???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That's probably one of the biggest misconception some people have. Probably because the word 'cold' is in both words? It appears though that a lot of people actually get the cold sores [which is caused by a virus called herpes simplex virus 1 or HSV-1] during the cold weather. That may be another reason why some think it's because of the cold weather that cold sores appear. But it's not.
I don't remember ever having cold sores. It doesn't mean though that I don't have the virus. From what I have read, the HSV-1 can be present in ones body and may not ever 'wake up' or reactivate...something like the virus that causes shingles. The virus is very contagious and can be transferred easily from one person to another so you better be careful when you see someone with cold sores.
