Hyperthyroidism Update

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I haven't posted much about my ongoing battle with hyperthyroidism. Battle??? LOL!! Nah...it's not really a battle. I haven't been to the doctor in a few months. I had to cancel my last appointment due to some scheduling conflict. I have yet to reschedule but I spoke with him on the phone a few times. My doctor is kind enough to actually call me to explain the result of my latest blood test. On my last visit with him, aside from the usual test for T3/T4 he also wanted me tested for either lupus and/or eczema , I think. I noticed some roughness on my fingers that tends to itch every now and then that's why he wanted to make sure. He gave me some cream for the rash but I didn't use it. He said that one thing that a thyroid problem can screw up is the immune system which can lead to something as serious as lupus. Scary huh? I guess he saw me worried when he mentioned that that's why he called me when he got the results back which we we...
Another Early Start...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blame it on my appointments. Today is not as early as the previous appointments though. My doctor's earliest appointment starts at 8 AM so that's as early as we can get in. I had some blood work done last week and I was kinda' excited to hear what the doctor has to say about the results. I got a copy of the results in the mail and there's a big difference between this result and the one I had before it which was about 2 months ago. The result of 2 months ago made my doctor increase the dosage of the medication I'm on because there was not a lot of improvement in my thyroid problem. Well, this latest result is showing otherwise. It seems I'm over medicated now because the 'hyper' turned into 'hypo', well, kinda'. I still have hyperthyroidism . The doctor put me back to the original dosage because my thyroid is not producing enough hormones now [I think]. This explains why I am always tired the last few weeks. He e...

Restless Leg Syndrome

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I guess the thyroid problem I have causes the restless leg syndrome or RLS that I've been experiencing for a while now. It's probably one of the very FIRST signs that I have hyperthyroidism which I didn't know of course. My doctor agreed that it's an underlying symptom of this problem. Anyway, I'm still having it and it's messing up my sleeping schedule. It's annoying to say the least because I don't feel it during the day. It's only when I go to bed and start to go to sleep that I feel it. I am hoping my medication will help solve it just like the 'bulging' eye. So far, not yet. The eye is almost back to its normal size but the RLS is still bothering me especially the last few nights. Anyway, from Wikipedia here's what RLS is all about. Restless legs syndrome (RLS, Wittmaack-Ekbom's syndrome ) is a condition that is characterized by an irresistible urge to move one's body to stop uncomfortable or odd sen...
