23 Years Ago...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
...the original Edsa Revolution/Uprising happened. It's been that long? I was in college when everything unfolded...second year to specific. I didn't go to any of the places where people gathered to take part in the uprising but I knew what was happening. I remember sitting by the side of the road in front of my dorm in UN Avenue waving a flag to the truckloads of people passing by on their way to Mendiola. The nuns who manned our dorm let us stay out until the wee hours of the morning because they themselves where rejoicing with what was happening then.
We went back to school a few days after it happened. Our teachers, especially the Social Science teachers were over the moon. I think we all passed our classes partly because of the Edsa Revolution....LOL. Our SS teacher asked as question during our final test: How do you see the Philippines 20 years from now?
I cannot remember what my answer was but it's now more than 20 years since that historic blood-less revolution. Obviously, my teacher was optimistic when she asked us that question...looking forward to big [positive?] changes. But....has anything changed since then?
Anyway, I didn't feel anything patriotic when EDSA celebrated it's 23RD. I wonder why...LOL!!
