We get a lot of junk mails in our mail box on a daily basis. A lot of them are offers for insurance. Yesterday we got one for car insurance that just made us laugh out loud. Why? It says that it can save us a lot of money. That’s not the funny part though. The annual savings they quoted was higher than what we’re paying our insurance company for a whole year. In other words, if we take their offer, they will be paying US instead. I guess we can make money out of them then, eh?

Anyway, we are always on the look-out for a cheaper car insurance. We pay our current car insurance company every six months instead of annually so we can easily switch if we come across something better. We learned our lesson already so we ask different companies for car insurance quotes on a regular basis. I think that’s the best way to do it to be assured that we’re not being taken.

We thought we had the best deal for our car insurance a few years ago but we realized that we were actually paying a lot more than what we should be. We stayed with that company for more than 10 years because it’s been hubby’s car insurance provider even before I came here. It meant that he dealt with the same agent for all those years who assured him he got the best deal. It’s only when his regular agent retired that he decided to look for a different provider. Imagine his surprise when he found out that he could have been paying a lot less all those years, as much as a few hundred dollars a year. Oh well…there was nothing that could be done anymore but charge it to experience. He learned his lesson well though. Now we know that we can simply go online and find an affordable car insurance which will save us money. No sweat I must say. Live & Learn, eh?
