401K Money

About a year ago, one of the first companies I worked for was bought out by another company. Unfortunately, one of the departments they phased out as part of the shake-up was the department where I worked. I really loved working with this company because we were given some benefits that other companies won't give work-at-home employees like me. For one, they deducted taxes from our bi-monthly pay. That's one less headache when it's tax time since they filed it for us. But the one benefit I really liked was the option for us to contribute to a retirement account like the 401k. It felt good knowing I was able to set aside some money for the future even if I am a work-at-home Mom. Unfortunately that had to stop as soon as the company was bought out and we were let go.

Right now, I have my 401k sitting idly in some retirement fund. Honestly, I have no clue what to do with it. I can probably move it to another company where it can earn something or maybe I'll cash it out and I'll just use it to buy gold coins or bullions. Hubby has been asking me to do something about it since it's been almost a year since its last activity. Hopefully I'll be able to figure out the best thing to do with it sooner or later. Or maybe I can just ask the hubby to take over. Only problem is...he's a bit busy to attend to it. Ugh....help?

L-O-S-T. I guess that about sums up how I'm feeling right now...with blogging anyway. I don't even know how to start this post. 😕 It's been almost 2 years since I last posted. Simple Life....

When we visited my family in 2012 we didn't actually spend as much time as I would have liked with most of them. That's because we planned a road trip which took most of our time. Since we were on the road majority of the stay, we weren't able to spend as much time in my childhood home. During our recent trip, that's exactly what we did. We spent a lot of time in my childhood home. We actually stayed home too much that we got bored after a while. But it was somehow an 'eye opener' for me as well as my significant other. On his part, he was finally able to experience 'real summer' back there. Both trips happened in April. But since we were in an air-conditioned car most of the time during our 2012 trip, we didn't really feel how hot it was. This time around, the air-con was only in our room. As soon as we stepped outside, it's hot. As a result, the AC in our room stayed on the whole day because it served as a reprieve from the heat. Every time

Finally finished the project I started a couple of months ago...at least. Now I'm a happy [and a bit sore] camper. I finished putting the mulch this morning mainly because I don't want to give the weeds another chance to invade the flower beds again...at least for a few months anyway. I think I had to pull out weeds twice before to prepare them for the mulch. I thought hubby would have the chance to put it down but his work just wouldn't let him so I decided to do it myself a few weeks ago. So why did it take me weeks to finish 2 and a half flower beds? I was just taking my time I guess. There was no hurry so I took my time. Now that I'm done with that 'project' I'm off to continue another one that I started about 2 weeks ago...decluttering my home office. The weather here is as unpredictable as...the weather? Last week it was raining almost everyday as predicted by the meteorologists around here. The time the rain would fall was the unpredictable part tho
