No, he's not my doctor but I sure wish he is!
He's called the '$5 Doctor'. That's because 5 bucks is all he charges his patients when they come for a visit. Yep, he is for real. If you get the chance, you can visit his clinic in Rushville, IL. He started his practice there in 1955 and never left. His office, according to the article, doesn't have any of the high tech gadgets we usually see in clinics nowadays but people flock to his clinic nonetheless. No appointments needed to see him and he sees his patients on a first come, first served basis. The $5 fee is also waived if a patient comes in for result [lab works] reading only.
I've read about his story a few months ago. I wanted to write about it just because I think that he should be an inspiration not only to doctors but to everyone else. But I got sidetracked and wasn't able to write about it. Then I came across this article about him in Yahoo yesterday so I decided to finally post something about him. I honestly don't even know what to write about him. I just feel that with what he's doing, it has to be shared.
More honesty and less greed...that will make our world a better place. I think that's what Dr. Russell Dohner represents...and then some. How I wish we have more people [and not just doctors] like him. Yep, it will definitely be a better world if we have more Dr. Russell Dohner around. Doncha think?
