Bass Player

I've had several postings here in my blog about my brother who is in a band. With that being said, I didn't know that plays bass guitar. How did I found out? He posted a video of him playing bass. I must say he's got potential. I was trying to see if the guitar he's using is a prs bass guitar but the video is a bit grainy so I couldn't get a good look at it. Whatever brand it is, he's still slaying it. I have not seen him play in person but I'm hoping that I'll get the chance one day. He doesn't really play during family get-together so I would have to catch him with his band during one of their stints. I'm hoping that will be sooner than later.

Catching a Cold...

..in SUMMER? I guess it happens because it just happened to me last week. The only mystery is where I got it from. I haven't been out in public for about 2 weeks, weekends included so the only way for the cold virus to have gotten into my system is through the mail that I get from the mailbox or from a visitor that dropped by over the weekend. That's it. Nevertheless, I was able to put a halt to it by taking the ever dependable Alkazeltser. This medicine just does wonders for us in this household. The moment I feel like I'm about to come down with the cold I start taking it and voila....the cold just stops on its tracks. Even if I hate the taste of the concoction, I just take it because I don't want the cold and the possible cough that may come after it. Also, I don't want to spread it around which happens almost all the time in this household. Hopefully no one caught it from me. It's been scorching hot in our neck of the weeds. That's basically the reas...

Missed it...

Lately, I've been seeing my brother post a lot of videos of him playing his guitar. I've never actually seen him play the guitar in person because when he started getting serious about it I was already thousands of miles away from home. I would only see pictures of him and his band when they had some local gigs but that was about it. But a few weeks ago I finally heard him play on a video he posted on his FB account. I'm not sure if the guitar he's using is one of the jackson guitars woodwinds brasswinds but it definitely sounds like a professional guitar and my brother slayed it I must say. Because of all the videos he's been posting and because of a video I saw of a song I really like, I decided to take out my own guitar from its dusty case. I just thought I could try and learn how to play the song I've been wanting to learn for months [years, maybe?] now. But guess what? Because it's been months since I played my guitar it's out of tune. Ugh! So befo...

Still Going....

Image
..dare I say...strong! We have the usual ups and downs but we managed to pull it through. We still have a long way to go but I'm definitely thankful that we're in it together...for the long[er] haul I must add. I have not been blogging much but I just thought I'd somehow acknowledge the day since it's something I'm very proud about...considering the circumstances of how we met and how fast things happened after we 'met'. I'm now ready for our 'skeptics' to say they're wrong. C'mon, say it! Tee hee....Nah...it doesn't matter. What matters is we made it this far.

My Brother and his Music

Everytime I get the chance to talk with my brother it seems like we always end up talking about his love for music. He wasn't much into music when he was younger but as soon as he entered adulthood, it seems that's all he wanted to do. He even formed what we call a 'backyard' band. It's he and his friends jamming in the backyard for fun. Their band even played some gigs way back when but life got in the way, i.e. jobs and families, so they disbanded. But music runs through his veins so he still plays and sometimes composes. He even asked me to check on pro tools m-powered software that he plans in getting sometime in the near future. I guess that's how you do music now, using a software. I have yet to check it but I'm sure it's something he has researched a lot about because he was talking quite a bit about it. I'm glad he's into music and not in any other vices. At least I don't have to worry about him getting hooked into some unwanted elem...

Oh Colin...

We had the first TS this week. Not Taylor Swift...it's actually 'Colin'...and it's the first a 'thunderstorm' of the hurricane season of 2016. Fortunately there were no thunders or storms that came our way just s little bit of rain, off and on yesterday. Needless to say the over the top coverage of 'Colin' was, um, over the top. I guess we can't blame them for overdoing the coverage and warning. As the saying goes...it's better to be safe than sorry. Right now it's a little bit windy outside but it's all clear...blue sky and sunny. I haven't heard or read that Colin did any major damage. I don't think it did but I'm sure there are isolated cases like the one boathouse that sank in a marina somewhere. The owner said he lost everything but the clothes on his back. He and his mother had to be rescued from their boathouse though. Now, that's something I didn't quite get. Why didn't they evacuate their boathouse? I beli...

Celebrating Mothers [and Fathers]

This past weekend was Mother's Day. In a few weeks, it will be Father's Day. Just like any other 'occasion' I wasn't expecting any kind of present at all on this day. Our little one is very thoughtful. She doesn't wait for any occasion to show how much she cares about us but she also makes a big deal [in her own way] out of any occasion...mother's day included. Every year she has something for me. This year she gave me 2 cards. One is store-bought which she handed me first. It's a very funny card that I think she got a kick out of it more than me...haha. The second card is a priceless one because it's her creation. She drew all of her original characters on it and I love it. But if there's one gift that I will always be thankful for on Mother's Day is her. She's the greatest blessing I have received in my life and as long as she's well, I will never want any other present for any occasion...and she knows that too. Anyway, I get a bi...
