Since it's almost the start of a new year [at least here in the West since they already started it in the East], I decided to post this Law of Return. May it serve like Food for Thoughts that we can ponder upon as the new year begins.
Have a safe New Year's Eve and a Prosperous 2008 to one and all!!!!
This piece came from Jokes of the Day email I get.
Whatever you give away today, or think or say or do, will multiply about tenfold, and then return to you. It may not come immediately nor from the obvious source, but the law applies unfailingly through some invisible force.
Whatever you feel about another, be it love or hate or passion, will surely bounce right back at you in some clear or secret fashion. If you speak about someone a word of praise or two, soon tens of other people will speak kind words to you.
Our thoughts are products of the soul, not secrets of the brain, kind ones bring us happiness, petty ones untold pain. Giving works as surely as reflections in a mirror, if hate you send, hate you'll get back, but loving brings love nearer.
Remember as you start this day and duty crowds your mind, that kindness comes so quickly back to those who first are kind. Let that thought and this one direct you through each day... The only things we ever keep, are the things we give away.

More and more buzz is being created about different online casinos. Of course, the buzz is usually a positive one. Something along the line of: This online casino is the best of all online casinos. So if somebody wants to try and play games in an online casino, he or she would have to weed through all these online casinos with that say they are the best there is. Instead of playing the games, time is spent just trying to look for the best one. Why not cut the chase and visit Pro360. It has all the things you need if you’re looking for an online casino. Well, it’s not a casino site but it can lead you to an online casino that will best suit your needs.
What does Pro360 do then? It reviews hundreds of casinos then rates them according to different important things like trust factor and bonuses. Pics by the Little One....
Like I mentioned in some of my Christmas/post Christmas entries, we gave the little girl her very own digital camera. Well, since she got the camera she's been on a mission. Take the pictures of everything and anything imaginable. Here are 3 of her work. Tell me what you think. Do we have a future professional photog in the house?
The first pic is a blow-up of a her drawing of Mickey Mouse. Can you find Mickey? LOL... This second one is that same Mickey drawing but this time she decided to include the whole frame in the shot.

Total Audio Converter
Technology is a good thing. Really, it is. I just don’t like the complexity that goes with it. Sure the different developments are good but I just can’t wrap my mind around some of the developments sometimes like converting a WAV file into an MP3. Well, my husband can do that for me but he’s not always at my disposal because he is working after all. So where to do I find something that does Total Audio Converter so I wouldn’t have to depend on him so much? Are they affordable? Yes, they are. I found one that’s less than 20 bucks and it does everything.
Cooutils.com has a Total Audio Converter that’s very affordable. It converts any audio file that you may have to the audio format that you want it to be. It even rips CD and you can even use it if you want to listen to songs. That means that you can listen to the file before or after you convert it so you won’t be converting the wrong one. My husband has songs which he had from the 90s. He has been wanting to convert them to MP3 but he couldn’t find a converter that is compatible with his ancient music and to the more current audio files. He doesn't want to buy one that he can only use for his old audio files but something that's also compatible to the more current ones. I’d probably get him this Total Audio Converter as his birthday present. I may just hit the jackpot on this. I’m sure that after I show him what this Total Audio Converter can do, I can probably ask him for the moon and he wouldn’t say a peep.

Traditions for the New Year...
My katukayo, Lucel Juliana, handed me down this time bomb...I mean time-sensitive tag. So now I'm trying to beat the deadline so it won't explode on my hands. I have to get rid of it ASAP...don't want to be starting my 2008 with BANG....literally. Hehe....thanks, Tuks.
Let me tag: Darlene, Emma, Nancy, Roselle, Texas Sweetie-Anne, Ritchiela, Michelle and Norm. Ladies, come over here and get this before the time is up. Let's see who will have this one explode in her care....bwa hahaha....
The Big Question: What are some of your new year’s good luck traditions?
Rule: Copy the person and persons’ names that sent it to you and add your own at the bottom of the list. It really helps to build community.
Lets start it here!
*My mom used to collect some coins and when the new year comes she put the coins in a bowl and shake it to create sounds. She said its good luck for money throughout the year. And also wearing dotted dresses on new year don’t know why. CC/chalyza/keep
*My old folks always told us to avoid spending money on new years day. They said, once you spend on the first day of the year, you like to spend the rest of the year.Behind d Scenes of ME/ Retchel’s Pure Life/ /A little bit of me
*I grew up believing that if you have some money on your pocket (whatever you’re wearing) come New Year’s eve it will ensure steady flow of income throughout the year. The other belief is that the main door of the house should be wide open come New Year’s eve so that good luck will be ushered in. Juliana of MY WORLD and JULIANA’S LAIR.
* A lot actually. Let me count the ways. (1) My mother had to have new 'dusters' [house clothes?] with dots on them....symbolizing - money! Ahem! When I started working, I was the one that bought her the 'dusters' for her so I did a little bit of 'altering' and bought her one with dots and one with rectangular shapes on them - ya' bills..hehe. (2) Just like tukayo, we were also told that having money in our pocket is goodluck. (3) When we were younger, we used to tie up tin cans. We would go around the neighborhood making noises because that would mean our year will be filled with happy noises..haha. (4) Round fruits - 12 of them I think - have to be in the middle of the media noche table. I can go on and on but I will stop here because I have some other things to do. This is me: Juliana of Pinay Wahm and Teacher's Corner.

Smorty...pays you to BLOG
As the year 2007 comes to an end, I can’t help but think of all the good things that happened to me. Yes, the good things. There are bad things as well but what good will it do if I keep thinking about the bad things. I want to dwell on the good instead of the bad. So let me start with one that not only gives me personal and intellectual satisfaction but also some financial gains. It is this year that I discovered about blog advertising. I have been reading blogs since the early part of the year but it’s only mid year that I contemplated in starting my own. I am thankful to a lot of people for being there when I started it because I really did not have any idea what I was doing.
For those who are not familiar with it. This thing called blog advertising is when ordinary bloggers like yours truly get the chance to write opinions on products or services and gets paid for it. This what a lot of bloggers do now…they get paid to blog. It’s really quite simple. You start a blog then maintain for a few weeks by writing entries which are somehow relevant and voila, Smorty will give you a chance to earn some cash. So if you have a blog and you’ve been blogging for quite a while, say 3 months, why don’t you try to blog for money? I’m sure you have something to say about a lot of products so why not get paid for it, right? Visit Smorty and see what I’m saying. I'm sure you will be impressed with what they have to offer. You can thank me later on.

Hannah Montana Craze????
There is no doubt that "Hannah Montana"a.k.a. Miley Cyrus, is probably the flavor of the season especially to young kids - tweens and teens alike. But to lie about something as serious as 'death' just to score some tickets is just going over the top.
I just read in the news today, that a family of a 6-year old wrote an essay about her father dying in Iraq! The kicker? It was all made up - it's all a big fat LIE in other words - so the girl can win the contest sponsored by a store - Club Libby Lu. The grand prize was a makeover which included a blond Hannah Montana wig and the most coveted concert ticket of year, Hannah Montana tickets. Well, the girl WON but upon doing some investigating, it was learned that no such person died in Iraq, much less the father of the 6-year old girl.
Now, I'm all for doing everything I can to make our little girl happey...but making up a story about her FATHER DYING is just beyond comprehension. Needless to say, the prizes were all taken away from the 'winner' and awarded them instead to somebody else. How about that for breaking your little girl's heart? To whoever coined this ridiculous idea, it probably serves you right. Unfortunately, a 6 year old had to be involved. Next time, be real...it may just make you win.

Coupon Chief...our Savior
After work yesterday, my husband decided to pass by our property where our new house will be built. He called me while he was there and guess what? There are some developments already with the construction of our new house. He was [and so was I as well] pleasantly surprise by that. Rough plumbing has been done and the slabs are put in place. What does that mean??? There is a “possibility” that by spring or summer we may be moving in to our new house….finally! After years of heartaches, it looks like it's going to happen after all. With all the problems we encountered with the construction of this new house, we only did not have emotional distress but financial as well. The original builder withdrew thousands of dollars of our money then did nothing but filed for bankruptcy. That means a lot of money that’s forever gone.
Because of what happened to us, we now need to eliminate some plans we originally had with the new house. We are also looking for a way to buy the things we need at a cheaper price. One way to do that of course is by finding sales and coupons. Coupons for stores like Target. Yes, coupons for the world’s second largest retailer. I am very happy to have found the coupons at coupon chief because I know that we will be able to use them. Another store that has some great coupons through Coupon chief is Home Depot. Yes, that store which has almost everything that we will need for our new home. I’m sure my husband will be over the moon once I tell him about all the savings we will be making at Home Depot because of coupon chief.
Since there is a possibility that we will be moving in spring of next year, we are also looking for some plants that we can put around the house. We can get all the plants we need from Spring Hill Nursery as well as Michigan Bulb because of the big discounts they offer through coupon chief. I can truly say that coupon chief is heaven sent to us. Without it, I’m not sure we will be able to get most of the things we want for the new house. So to Coupon Chief, thanks a lot for providing us the much needed savings. It’s very much appreciated.

New England Patriots Made History
Yes, they did. They, New England Patriots, beat the New York Giants [38-35] and became part of sports history with a standing of 16-0 during the regular season. This is the second time that a team wrapped up the season [well, before the playoffs anyway] with no loss. In 1972, Miami Dolphins [unfortunately, one of the teams this season with few wins] set this same record of no loss , 14 - 0, the Dolphins eventually went to win the SuperBowl that year. Now, Brady's mission is to do the same thing...win the Superbowl XLII . It's not like he's never done it before. He has 3 rings already so earning another one is a big possibility.
It was a very close game as the Giants played one of their best games ever. Tom Brady had to go back in the game to be able to make the win. It was well worth it though because they did what only 1 team accomplished so far, a regular season of only wins and no losses. They are the first though to have a record of 16 wins because in 1972, there are only 14 games during the regular season which the Miami Dolphins all won.
So to the Pats, New England Patriots, congratulations. Goodluck to you in the playoffs. Let's hope you play with one my teams during SuperBowl. Hep, hep...hurray!

1800 No Drugs...Helping Eliminate Drug and Alcohol Addiction
Reading the news has always been a part of my daily routine eversince I was in college. It just kind of stuck with me after taking a class in Current Events. I read all sorts of news from Entertainment to Politics to the local news. The one news I really don’t want to come across with is the news about someone committing a crime because he or she is intoxicated or high on something. A good example would be those who are caught driving under the influence. They not only put themselves in danger but also those who are on the road with them. From what I have been reading, in America alone, 23 Million people are in need of treatment for some form of a substance abuse but less than 10% of these abusers actually seek the help they need. Why is that when there is drug treatment available to them? Because some people just wouldn’t admit that they have any substance abuse problem.
I know because I have immediate family members who battled either drug or alcohol addiction or both. Let me tell you, this disease becomes really scary when it hits close to home. We wanted to help but at the time, help was the last thing a family member of mine wanted. So even if we wanted him to enter an alcohol rehab or a drug rehab center, it was just not feasible because the person involved wouldn’t admit that he had some substance abuse problems. Fortunately [or unfortunately however one looks at it], something life-threatening happened which opened his eyes so he got off the alcohol and drug without going in any alcohol rehab center.
My personal experience, somehow, has a happy ending. But not all those who have substance abuse problems are as "lucky" as we are. Way too many people either die or get hurt because of alcohol or drug addiction. So everyone must be united in fighting this disease. If you know someone, a friend, a family member or even just someone you’re only acquainted with, needs help, refer them to 1800nodrugs.com. This place will help the person by looking for a drug rehab or an alcohol rehab that is suitable to the needs of the person involved. They are open day in day out all year-round so they can be reached anytime and anywhere. Professionals are waiting to help, so do them a favor and see what this place has to offer. Who knows, with that one call you will make, the next life you will be saving is somebody close to you.

Mobile Advertising???
Hmm..interesting. After blog advertising, now comes Mobile Advertising. Yes, advertising using your cellphone. Well, this is still very much into its beginning stages but it has potentials, don't you think? They are saying that 80% of Americans alone, have cellphones so I won't be surprised if this so-called Mobile Advertising actually explodes in a few months. I guess I would have to activate my cellphone again so I can take part on this new 'thing' in town.
How does it work? Well, right now a wine company offers discounts to their products if you snap and send them a picture of of their ads in newspapers. And a company called, SnapTell Inc. is the one helping different merchants on doing this kind of advertising. Simple eh? So, are you in or are you out? Me? Not quite sure yet. I'll see where it leads then maybe, just maybe, I will join in. Fair enough?

ShopWiki for All Your Baby's Needs
Having a baby is by far the most fulfilling experience I have had in my entire life. As many other parents like me would say, after having a baby you just can’t remember what kind of life you had before you had your baby nor can you imagine how life would be without your baby. Yes, my husband and I are very happy to have our little one but it was not easy to re-arrange our lives to make room for another being. It is of course well worth it. One of the many challenges we had to face even before our baby was born was buying the right things like baby clothes or accessories for our child.
Yes, there are a lot of stores out there, especially online stores for my baby’s needs like car seats but just going from one site to another is tiring and very time consuming. I don’t want to just buy the first car seat I come across with because I am well aware that this is a very important accessory for our little one so my husband and I really do search for the best products. So what can be done to eliminate all the searching? Go to ShopWiki. They a have everything that a baby needs…from baby and toddler clothing to toys to educational materials like books.
Aside from listing all the products that can be found in different stores, ShopWiki offers vital information for each product they have in their site. They have information such as reviews on products as well as tips on what to look for in a product. So if you are a mom, a mom to be or just someone who’s looking for baby or toddler products, check ShopWiki first before buying the things you need for a baby. It will be worth your time.

Cheap and Good Quality Ink at Inkers
More often than not, when a computer is in the house, a printer is not too far away. If printers were very expensive before, nowadays most of them are cheap, that is if they don’t come free with the computer. If it’s cheap or free, then it would be a good thing, right? Not quite. The real kicker happens when you ran out of ink. The branded inks cost too much most of the time that it would probably be better if you just buy another printer. But what would you do with the printers that you will accumulate? You probably don’t have to resort in buying printers instead of buying ink. You see, there is way in getting ink at a much cheaper price compared to the branded products and the quality of it is just as good as the more expensive ones.
Inkers has the inkjet cartridges that you may need for your printer or multi-purpose printer, copier, scanner and fax machine. That’s what we have actually, a multifunctione one. When we ran out of ink the first time, we looked in the stores for the ink we needed. I almost passed out because of the unbelievable price they have on the ink and toner. So my husband decided to go online and look for a much better deal…and he found one. Now we don’t have to worry about paying too much for the ink for our printer/copier/fax machine. We also don’t have to worry about the products from inkers because they have a 100% guarantee against defects for 1 whole year. That's not all there is to it, if we’re not satisfied with their product, we can just return it within 30 days with absolutely no questions asked. So if you ever need ink or ink cartridges, check inkers.biz. I’m sure they have what you need for your printers foa fraction of the cost you pay at the store.

Yeah...Santa Got Me Something after All....
Earlier today someone knocked on the door. I was not expecting any deliveries because I did not order anything and the mail man is too early to be knocking on my door. I didn't open the box right away because I couldn't find as to who it's for. So I called the husband and asked him if he placed any order at Zappos, and his answer? MAYBE. Lol....isn't that a safe answer? Anyway, he asked me to open the box and see what's inside. Well, as soon as I opened the box and saw the shoebox inside - FRYE - I started shrieking....hehe. Yep, he ordered the sandals I am wanting for quite a while now. I even made an entry in my Teacher's Corner blog about the sandals aptly titled: Sandals in my Wishlist. I didn't expect to get anything since we had no plans of givinge each other anything for Christmas because of the new house that will be built anytime now so it's really a pleasant surprise.
He got me the Frye Lola Zigzag sandals... from Zappos. Yippee! The first pic are my daughter's feet and second set are mine...It won't be long before she can actually wear my shoes...

Corfu Island is a Place to Visit...
On Christmas day, while we're watching “A Christmas Story”, my husband was telling me how much he really wants to go on a vacation in the near future. It’s been years since we went on one and it’s not even a real vacation because it was spent visiting friends in another state. So we were both in agreement that the next time we go on a vacation, it would be a real vacation. It will be where we will relax and do some sightseeing as well. This is only 100% conceivable if we go to a place where we don’t know anyone so we won’t feel obligated to visit anyone. We can do the visiting some other time. So a vacation here in the states is not what we’re planning in doing.
So where are going? We have some places in mind and one of them is Greece. Why Greece? Why not? Just by reading about this country makes it very enticing. Aside from that, my husband wants to satisfy his curiosity about this place. Now, I know that Athens is probably the most famous city there. But have you heard about Corfu? It’s another city in Greece that a lot of tourists go visit. I think it’s going to be the ideal place for us because there are hotels in Corfu that are very affordable…just what we are looking for. And with the travel guide of Corfu island provided by Fantastic Greece, it would be easy for us to go around the island and do what we want to do during the entire vacation. I'm sure that we will find a Corfu hotel that will be perfect for us in case we want to stay indoor for a day or so.
Now all we have to do is put our affairs in order and make sure everything is in place before going on a vacation that we really, really need. We don’t have to worry about Corfu accommodation because it’s all done for us. If only we can find a place to fix our schedule for us before we can go on a trip, it’s going to be a perfect life.

Benazir Bhutto was Assasinated!
Benazir Bhutto, a former Pakistan Prime Minister was assasinated minutes after she addressed thousands of her supporters. She was in the car already leaving the venue when her supporters at the gate started chanting their support for her. So she came out of the vehicle to acknowledge them. Tha's when an assassin shot her in the neck and body then blew himself up. Here's a picture of her waving at her supporters minutes before she was gunned down.
Personally, I had a case of the deja vu when I read this news. Bhutto just returned to Pakistan on October 18, 2007 from an 8-year exile. Now, isn't that something similar to what happened to Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino in 1983? Ninoy Aquino was assassinated on his way back to the Philippines from 3 years of self-imposed exile here in the states....while he was still on the plane that brought him home for the last time. Aquino's assassination eventually brought down the 20-year Marcos regime and catapulting his wife's, Cory Aquino, win for Presidency thus making her the first woman Philippine president. Would Benazir Bhutto's assassination do the same with the present Pakistan President? That we have to wait and see.

Diamonds and Rolex....Girls Best Friends!!!
My husband complains that it is very hard to buy me gifts for any occasion so he would usually tell me to just look for whatever I want and tell him about it or just order it and he’ll pay for it. For some, that may seem to be so not romantic but I have no problem with it. Right now, I have not chosen anything that can be qualified as a family heirloom like some kind of an estate diamond jewelry but one day, I would want to own a few pieces and I may just start with this set of emerald bracelet and necklace.
I am planning on passing this to my daughter in the future. Considering how elegant and pretty this kind of jewelry is, at Gray and Sons, it is sold at a very affordable price. Aside from their estate jewelry, they also sell rolex watches. These are pre-owned but they are restored at mint conditions so they really look like they are brand new. I have always wanted to own one but I just couldn’t afford a brand new one. But with Gray and Sons, my life-long wish of owning one may just become a reality. I am actually eyeing this one.
I have no plans of owning a lot of estate jewelry or rolex watches but I have an older friend who has collected quite a few over the years. I was talking to her on the phone before Christmas and she mentioned that she’s looking for places that sell jewelry, pre-owned jewelry where she can sell some of her prized possession. I guess I have just the place for her. Next time she calls, I can direct her to Gray and Sons. I’m sure she will get a good deal for them. She may just end up parting with more than she wants to part with. Posted by Pinay WAHM at 12/26/2007 12:58:00 PM 0 comments Links to this post

It's the Day after Christmas....
So it's the day after Christmas...what's everyone up to today? My hubby is back at work so it's just me and our little one here again. I'm still blogging [didn't really take a break] and our litte girl just finished her morning school works. She's now busy tending to her 'sick' teddy...it's running a fever so she made some "soup" to make it feel better better...aha!!!
She got this new digital camera for a Christmas present and as of 12 noon today, she already took about 200 pics....inside the house! I am posting some of her 'precious pics' here which she took yesterday.

Cash Advance at Your Fingertips....
The season of giving is over. All the excitement about the holiday season is slowly going down. For some, the reality of overspending is now starting to sink in. Unfortunately, Christmas season is really the time that people tend to overspend. Who can blame them when every store imaginable has a sale going on during the holiday season? Everyone gets caught in the moment so to speak. Unfortunately, as soon as the holiday cheer is over, the post holiday fear starts.
Questions we didn’t think of asking ourselves when shopping start to creep up on us…like: How will I pay for all these bills from my Christmas shopping spree? For some the answer may come easier than others. Borrow money from your friends and family, maybe? Or going to those money lending services near you? I personally don’t want to do neither. I would rather find a place online where I can get a payday loan.
I just don’t have the courage in asking people I know for a loan or getting in a long line of people who are in the same boat as I am and taking the chance of being recognized. So the best place for me to be is a where I can get cash advance without all the hassles I mentioned…where else but online! This way, there is no need for me to leave my house. I can do everything online and have the money I need deposited directly to my checking account. It’s that simple. With Perfect Cash Advance, I can even join their cash advance affiliate program. That means they don't only lend me the money I need, I can even make money with them. How cool is that? So if you’re one of those who are having short term monetary emergencies, go to perfectcashadvance.com, find out how they can help.

An Australian Trip is in the Works...
One of the places that my husband wants to visit someday is Australia. He is very much interested in seeing the different places there like Melbourne and Perth that’s always being advertised. I have not been in Australia myself but I had some co-teachers who are Australian. They advised me that if and when I visit their country, I may want to find Melbourne Accommodation or Perth Accommodation other than hotels. My former roommate suggested I look into serviced apartments instead especially if I have family with me. So when my husband mentioned his future plans of visiting the “Down Under”, I told him about the serviced apartment like Astor apartments. He really likes the idea of staying in a serviced apartment like the ones below since it would be like a home away from home.

If and when the time comes that we make it in Australia, it would probably for about a month or so. It won’t just be a week long stay because it’s going to be a once in every 10 years trip, so we will take advantage of the chance and go to as many places as we can afford. That being said, aside from Perth and Melbourne, we’re also looking into Brisbane and/or Adelaide. That means we also have to look into Brisbane Accommodation as well as Adelaide Accommodation. If it were just me and him, a hotel room would probably work out but since we have a little one now, we want to find accommodations where she will not feel like she's not home. This is why we are really leaning towards serviced apartments now. Why not, right? Being away from home is hard enough, so why not find accommodations that feel like home!Posted by Pinay WAHM at 12/24/2007 04:01:00 PM 0 comments Links to this post

Award Time....
Merry Christmas to me!!! So I was checking out the blogs of my friends who visited me while I was snoozing away. Well, being the night owl that she is, Ms. Roselle was busy handing out this award to her friends while I was in Lalala Land...."Your Blog is a Treasure!!", then my Lola Tess also handed me this just now! Really now, eh? Kidding...I know my blog is a treasure. Gosh, if I'm paid for every minute I spend on this blog, I would be millionaire over and over again. Isn't that right, Ms. Roselle and Lola Tess?? Anyway, thanks much to you for the compliment. If only those "you know what" [clue: it starts with "P" and ends with a "P"] see what you see in my blog....then I'd probably be making the millions I'm supposed to be making. Ha!
Since it's the season of giving, let me give it to you all my friends. Please grab it and put it on your blogs then let me know you have it up so I can take a peek. Okie dokie? Happy Holidays!!!
