Missing in Action...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kinda'....I just didn't have the time to blog earlier today because I got busy. Nothing new around here except W-O-R-K has come pouring again...and they are all RUSH projects...something like....they have to be done NOW!
We are having our usual sunny....err...rainy day here again. It's been raining since lunch time on and off. It's real wet outside so we didn't even go out of the house. The husband did his usual yard work on Saturdays while the little and I stayed in the house.
That's basically it for today. Tomorrow??? It's still up in the air. We are supposed to attend a wedding but we are still waiting for a call from my sister-in-law to tell us about the time. The invite they sent us got lost along the way probably because of the move.
So if you don't see me tomorrow that means I am all made up attending our niece's wedding.
Cover Up!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Florida is known as the Sunshine State for obvious reasons. Lately though, that nickname doesn’t seem to apply where we’re at right now. It’s been raining a lot and the sun is not ‘shining’ down on us much. As a result, our back patio is always wet…including whatever is out there. So the husband has been looking at patio furniture covers because of all this rain. We only have a couple of patio furniture but it wouldn’t be long before we give in to the temptation of buying a full patio set. It’s only a matter of time. I can feel it.

Pink Fan...

This is the fan we have in our bedroom! Nah....of course not. This is the little one's ceiling fan that Dad got her just yesterday.

She was complaining that she's hot at night...even with the central air on 24/7. I wear my 'moomoo' every night because I get too cold with the air and here she was complaining about being hot. Anyway, the Dad heeded her call and got her that pretty pink ceiling fan. I kinda' like it actually but I'm way too old to have that in our bedroom. Besides, I don't think the husband likes pink that much.

I Wish...I Wish for....

At least a day with no problem with our cable service provider. The husband is now busy looking for another provider. I am keeping everything crossed that we will find one that we like so we can move on and get rid of this provider we have right now.

Here's wishing you all a good day today. It's already Thursday! I have quite a few things lined up today but I'm not sure if I can accomplish them all today. Wish me luck, okay?

Time to Say....

It's been one frustrating day for me, work wise especially. I thought I would be able to do some decent work. Unfortunately, our ever dependable[NOT], ever reliable [NOT!] ISP had other plans for me.

Because of what happened today we decided to find another phone company. We MAY keep the other 2, cable and internet. At least when one of the services is down, we can still communicate with the culprit. Right now we have a bundle package with one company so if one of the services is down, all 3 are down. That means we cannot email or call to bite their heads off!!!

Anyway, I have to say goodnight. Much as I want to do more work, I just don't have the motivation right now. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.

Making Dreams a Reality....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My husband’s ultimate dream has always been opening a small business that he can call his own and I’m sure he’s not the only one who has that kind of a dream. Just like a lot of people with that same dream, it took a while before he had the guts to actually take the plunge and make his dream a reality. He and a partner opened their business after months of planning and sleepless nights. It wasn’t easy as both of them didn’t have any experience running a business. They knew the product they were going to market but they didn’t have the business background to really sell it. But they pulled it off and are now into their 3rd year of operation.
The financial aspect of starting a business is probably the biggest reason why a lot of people can't start their own business. Fortunately, there are places that offer sba loans. But not many places are like OnlineCheck.com when it comes to borrowing a business loan. How? For one, they have faster approval and there are no closing fees. So if you have a business you want to expand or someone who wants to make a lifelong dream come true, visit OnlineCheck.com. Who knows, they may be able to help and make your dream come true!
Bummer...
That's how I feel right now!!! The culprit?? Our internet/phone/cable combo is just frolickin' crazy! It started at 1:00 this afternoon and it's just on and off! I don't have a cellphone simply because I have no use for it since I am always at home. So I cannot call them from here.
I was able to call the husband to tell him about it. As soon as I put down the phone, it's dead again! Arrrggghhhh!!!!!!!
Moral Lesson?? Do not subscribe with the same company for your phone, cable and internet. It may save you a few bucks but the stress is just not worth it. This is the second time this happened.
Oh well...I gotta' go and cut this short or my connection my go kaput again before I can post this.
What's Up??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm quite bored today. Nothing exciting happening around here. I just finished making dinner and we're now waiting for the husband to come in...he just arrived from work and is now unhooking his trailer.

I've done a few tasks but have not blog hopped yet. I'd probably do that later on. I have to start cutting up my roast chicken so it's ready when the husband and the daughter are ready to eat.

In the meantime, I would like to thank Pinaymama - Joy of Garden of Moments and Carol of insights from the grocery cart for these 2 awards/tags. Thanks Mommies....appreciate the thought as always.

Education Online

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having a degree was very important part of my life. I was fortunate enough to have it because of other people’s help. I would always be grateful for the scholarship I was given. When I started working, I decided to take up my master’s degree in educational management. It worked for a while but as soon as I started getting more loads for my masters, I had to choose between my job and the degree. I chose the masters since I knew it will give me a better chance of finding a better job. I didn't want to stop working but I had no choice. If that happened today, I wouldn’t have any problem because I can finish my education online while I work. Right now I am contemplating in taking up something online. I know that learning should be continuous and with online education, I can do it in the comfort of my own home.
DVDs...for Sale?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We have accumulated so many DVDs throughout the years that I don't really know what to do with them. Well, let me make that "children's DVDs". Yep, most of the DVDs are the little one's and she just wouldn't let them go.

Up until about a week ago, they were still in the box but I finally had the chance to take them out and I really don't know where to put them. Right now they're in the armoire in our bedroom but sooner or later they would have to be moved.

I told the husband about it and he said to pack them and send them to the Philippines...for my niece's children. Hmmm...maybe that's a good idea. Now all I have to do is find 'that' chance when the little one is not looking so I can sneak them out.

Oh we just got her 5 more about 2 weeks ago...and there's more coming. Although the ones we're going to buy next are educational ones. Sigh...looks like there's really no end in sight as far as this problem goes, eh?

Here are last 5 we got for her...she already watched them..over and over again.

Ready to Save Lives

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If life is like the movies, then we will have superheroes saving lives. But life is very much different. Still, if we are given a chance to save lives, I’m sure there will be a lot of people who would want to do it. I know I would. This is why we chose to preserve our little one’s cord blood when she was born. Today, there is another possible way to help save lives in the future. It’s also About the Science of stem cell and what it can do for our future. But this time the stem cells will be harvested from the menstrual blood that every woman secretes monthly.
Am I surprised with this new development? Actually, I’m not. Growing up, our grandmother had this crazy notion that menstrual blood can actually help clear up skin! She didn’t have any scientific explanation then so we never really paid attention to it. But with the recent developments and with C'elle providing women with the opportunity to collect and preserve the vital stem cells from the body’s menstrual fluid, my grandmother’s theory may be valid after all. Reading more and more about this, I am actually leaning more and more towards the possibility that C’elle has something here that’s worth paying attention. I still have to watch the C'elle Client Testimonial so I better get off here to see what these clients have to say about this.
The Kids are Alright....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's Tuesday. My day is going alright so far. I don't feel as lazy but I'm feeling tired today. Ha! Anyway, I'm busy blogging right now while the little one is doing her work across from me. Geezz...she talks too much even if she's working on her book.

Anyway, here's something to make you smile....

The Kids Are Alright...

Two little kids are in a hospital, lying on stretchers next to each other outside the operating room.

The first kid leans over and asks, "What are you in here for?"

The second kid says, "I'm in here to get my tonsils out and I'm a little nervous."

The first kid says, "You've got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up they give you lots of Jello and ice cream. It's a breeze.

"The second kid then asks, "What are you here for?"

The first kid says, "A circumcision."

"Whoa!" the second kid replies. "Good luck buddy. I had that done when I was born.

Couldn't walk for a year."

Old house tales....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About 2 weeks ago, we decided to use a realtor to sell the old house. We only put up a sign before with our contact information on it so there was really no marketing done. We still had a lot of our stuff there until that time so the husband got busy in the last 2 weeks moving them here. He also did some quick checking around the house and he found out that the kitchen faucets need fixing. He said he can do it himself when he has the chance but we're still undecided if he should just fix the old ones or replace them with new ones. Oh well, I guess if the house doesn't sell soon he can replace them faucets. That way the kitchen will look more attractive.
Lazy Me...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's been a lazy Monday here. I did very few things today. I think I'm not used to having a sunny day anymore....hahaha. Yes, you read that right...it was SUNNY here today. It drizzled for a few minutes but that's about it. I think Fay decided to say buh-bye already.

I did some things off line though so it's not really a 'wasted' day. We did some paperworks and I baked a pumpkin pie!!! That's the husband's favorite pie actually but I wasn't sure when I baked it. I used squash instead of the usual pumpkin but he said it tastes okay I'm happy. The little one's reaction is same-o same-o..."It's the best, Mom!"...LOL...

It's DUE time....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being pregnant was probably one of the best times in my life. The saying ‘women are most beautiful when pregnant’ surely applied to me…at least I felt that way. I have a few friends who felt that way as well and soon one of our nieces would hopefully be feeling that way. This niece is getting married this weekend and she said that she cannot wait to have kids and I know that it will only be a matter of time before I start looking for maternity clothes that I can give her. As a matter of fact, I have already started looking even if she’s not pregnant yet.
I was pregnant a wee bit late in life so I’m sure that her style would be very much different than my style. She’s only in her early 20s and she likes to dress up and be pretty. I’m sure that she would want to be as stylish and pretty even when she’s pregnant. One site I stumble upon is Due Maternity. A website specifically designed for mothers-to-be. They have a wide selection of products especially maternity clothes that are very stylish and affordable. I’ve already marked some of the clothes but one that stands out the most is this one:
I’m pretty sure my niece would love to have it in her maternity wardrobe collection.
Just....
Whew...been quite busy with life so I wasn't able to blog yesterday. Sunday was errands' day for us so we were out most of the day. We braved the rain to get things done...yay!
I will be busy today [and the days to come] as well. I have a lot of things to finalize so life can go on as 'planned'. I will be 'poppin' in here just like that cute puppy up top...every now and then.
I hope you all have a great week. Start it right, alright?
Of Ice-Cream and Bets...
Well, "losing bets" I should say. So the husband got me my favorite ice cream... a pint of butter pecan. He also got some chocolate ice-cream bars for him and the little one because they both don't like my ice-cream...yay!!!
Anyway, there were 3 ice cream bars in the box which means that if they ate 1 each yesterday, there would only be 1 left. Who should get it? Well, obviously the little one should get it. BUT....they made a bet this morning...with the ice-cream bar at stake!!!
I knew and the husband knew that little one had it wrong but being the daughter of HER father [stubborn is the word] she wouldn't give in. In short, she lost! What happened? Come time to eat the ice cream, we have a little girl crying her heart out because she really wanted the ice-cream...LOL!! I offered mine but no, she refused. Just to make his point, the Dad didn't give her the whole bar....just half of it...with the reminder: Next time, listen when I say your answer is not right. Ha!
I hope she learned a lesson..but being the daughter of HER father, I highly doubt it...hehehe...
Where's the Party?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One of my husband’s nieces is getting married next weekend. It’s a very small family affair and everything from the invitation to the reception is being done by the family. I actually admire them because I will never be able to pull off something like that. If and when I organize anything like a party, I’d probably be doing very little. I’d order party invitations and probably have the food catered as well. It may cost a little more but it will surely be one stress-free celebration.

Sticking Around...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yep, I'm talking about FAY! She's been in the sunshine state for almost a week already. We are still feeling it even though it's quite far from where we are. It seems that this tropical storm grew so attached to our state that it decided to stay longer than it should.
Lesson Learned...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Our neighbor is in the process of moving. I’ve been seeing their truck rental in front of their house since 2 days ago. Seeing them load the truck made me remember our very own move about 2 months ago. Our move was done slowly as we didn’t hire any moving companies instead we did it ourselves. As result it was way too stressful because we only used a trailer with no cover. So when it rained we had to wait it out. So I commend our neighbor for getting a truck rental instead of doing it the way we did it. But lesson is learned. If and when we move again, we know better and we’ll hire help that time around.

Time to Relax....

Or is it? It's the weekend once again. Does it mean it's time to relax? For some yes, for the others, not quite. "Others"...meaning ....ME!

I don't know why but it seems that in my line of work [WAHM], weekend and relaxing don't go together. Why? Because WORK is usually released on the weekends! I don't why...I don't really want to know why. But if I want to make some moolah...then the weekend is usually the time to do it.

Oh well...I guess I just have to be thankful that "I have work." I just wish it's more predictable so I can plan accordingly.

Enjoy your weekend everyone. Me? I'll try!

Web Hosting Rating....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We always want to go with the best and that’s a fact. This is the reason why everything and anything is being rated. And for a consumer like me, that is a good thing. So I am always thankful when I stumble upon a site that rates either products or services like hosting ratingrating. With the help of websites like WebHostingRating.com, a consumer like me can make an educated choice because facts are presented and compared in one sitting and on the same page. With WebHostingRating, different web hosting services are rated based on customer satisfaction, affordability, reliability, uptime and technical support. Yes, customer satisfaction is one of the bases which can only mean that people who have used the services are involved in deciding which one is the best. Aside from the ratings itself, this website has valuable articles that everyone can benefit from such as Tips for Choosing a Domain. So if you are looking for a web hosting service, make sure to drop by WebHostingRating.com first before making a decision. You’ll thank me later.
True Love...a Tag!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A Friday tag from Cecile. This time it's about TL or true love....hahaha. Let's see if I can answer these questions...

What does true love mean to you?

True Love means never having to say you're sorry! Charing...haha. Seriously, true love for me is when I was able to say: the heck with it. Oh wait I say that all the time…LOL!

How do you know you’re really in love?

When I forget about myself…not a good thing!

How many times in your life have you fallen in love?

Hmmm…3? Maybe 4…

Have you ever fallen out of true love because you were mad at the moment?

Nah.

Do you feel love and physical attraction is the same thing?

Nope. If they’re the same thing, our world will not be as crazy.

If your true love became ill or disfigured would you continue to love them the same way?

Nah…I will look for someone else. Hahaha…Of course I will love him the same way.

Should anyone else be able to tell you who to love or not love?

Me, myself and I only.

Do you believe people that ended up divorced were ever truly in love?

Yes.

Would you do anything for love?

Anything? A lot of things maybe but not absolutely anything.

If you truly love someone, do you feel it should be unconditional?

Yep!

Debt Help...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Debt is something my husband and I refuse to have. As much as possible, we don’t use credit cards. This is probably why we got a respectable 93% score in the BillsIQ Check-up. I’m lucky that my husband and I believe in the same things so there’s really no struggle in keeping our finances straight. Unfortunately, not everyone believes in the same thing. One sibling for instance is on the verge of filing for bankruptcy. Debt consolidation is something we told her to do but she said that it’s too late for it. It seems that she really wants the easy way out and not deal with all the debts she had incurred. I just can’t understand how she can just do that when she has kids that depend on her. Debt help is only possible to those who are willing to take it and I don’t think she wants help.
We only have one kid but we’re trying our best to make sure her future is secured. We are about to get her one of those educational plans that she can use when she goes to college. As early as now, we are teaching her the value of money by not giving her things which we think are not important. If she really wants something, we make her work for it so she knows it’s not that easy to get it even if we can afford it. The sibling that’s about to file for bankruptcy has 3 young kids that depend on her. If and when she chooses to file, it will take her years to get back on her feet. Debt relief is something that she can have if she only listens to what her loved ones tell her. But until she does, things will just get worse for her and her kids.
Look-Alike? Really???
No, that's not me. Hahaha....yes, that's Maricel Soriano. I got that picture from Photobucket. I can't find any other picture where she's smiling.
Why am I looking for a picture of her smiling? Because I keep getting comments that I look like her. Surprising, huh? And since I was smiling in the pictures I'm told I *look* like her , I tried to look for one where she's also smiling.
Here's the bigger version of that picture of mine up top.
This is also the picture I have in my high school alumni's website...and a few of my former HS classmates said that I look like her as well. Ha!
Anyway, today I got that same comment in my other blog...Teacher's Corner. But this time it's for this picture.....
Hmmm...do you think I should start posing as her??? I'd probably make a few cents here and there, ya know? LOL...nah...I can't always smile like that. The husband said that maybe I should change my picture and see if I get the same comment. Hmm...I'd probably give that a try.
A Vacation Worth Remembering...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Vacations are always fun especially if you take them with loved ones and friends. Sometimes, these vacations turn out to be really memorable because of some instances that are not planned. Just like what happened when my friends decided we should go on Las Vegas tours. Las Vegas itself is worth remembering but one instance made it more memorable to us because it was unexpected. While in Las Vegas, my friends and I hailed a taxi to take us some place. The taxi we hailed could only accommodate 6 passengers. There were 6 of us + 1 kid. We knew the driver wouldn’t let us all in the taxi so we decided to hide the little under her Mom’s dress. It was probably one of the longest rides of my life as well as one of the funniest. The little boy was so angry at his Mom but all we could do was laugh.

Remembering that vacation just made me want to go on one and I have to say that we so badly need to on one. So I went online to look for online travel guides. And I found out that right now, Trusted Tours and Attractions offers discounted tickets [in 23 cities] like a Kennedy space center discount. Since we are only a few hours from there, I may just ask the husband to take a day off so we can go back there soon. And if I sign up to their newsletter between now and August 31, I will even have a chance to win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate.

Judas Asparagus...

A child was asked to write a book report on the entire Bible.

Here's his amazing interpretation of the bible.

I wonder how often we take for granted that children understand what we are teaching???

Through the eyes of a child:

The Children's Bible in a Nutshell

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says,

'The Lord thy God is one, but I think He must be a lot older than that.

Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did.

Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden.

Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.

Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable.

God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then he gave them His Top Ten Commandments.

These include: don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's stuff.

Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets.

One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore. There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of The New. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Republicans.

Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the mount.

But the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again.

He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

Walk for a Cause

I am not big on exercise. But if there’s something I really like doing which can be considered as exercise, it has to be walking. Since I don’t exercise, I make it a point to walk regularly even just for short distances. It revs me up somehow when I walk and it gives me some kind of a fulfillment. How much more if I walk for a cause? I’m sure I would feel doubly fulfilled because I won’t only be walking for me but for others as well. This is why I am thinking of joining the Alzheimer's Memory Walk soon.

The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk is something that anyone can do. I checked the nearest walk in my area and I found out that there will be one in Georgia come November 1, 2008. What do you know, it falls on my birthday. Maybe I can convince the husband to register us so we can join. What can be a better gift for my birthday than knowing I am doing something for the greater good?
