A Look at My Day..by Day by Day...

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here's what I've been blogging about everyday for the last month, well, maybe last week or so. Instead of downloading pictures from Photobucket, I thought of being more realistic and take pictures of what's happening outside our humble [and wet] abode. Here's what I see when I look out the front window. Another Angle of the Front of the House [see that flooded flower bed on the lower right? That's why we can't plant anything yet]   And Here's what I see when I look out the back.... Now, this rain has been happening day in day out. Last week it wasn't as wet because it would only rain late in the afternoon. But this week...it's raining pretty much the whole day. The only thing I'm thankful about...there are no lightning and thunders that go with the rain this week. Which means I can stay online pretty much all the time even if it's raining. Now, WHO WANTS SOME RAIN????????? Come and take some of
Gloomy & Sleepy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That about sums up everything. The little one was being a baby last night and didn't want to sleep until it was way past her bedtime. She kept calling me and/or coming to our bedroom for trivial things. She finally dozed off around 10:45...after crying because I wouldn't go to her bedroom anymore. That's the reason for the 'sleepy' part. It's still raining here...almost non-stop. It stopped for a few minutes a couple of times. First time it stopped I had to run outside to put the trash can out front because it's trash pick-up this morning. The second time it stopped I had to run outside again...this time to get the trash can because the trash was already picked-up. And that's the reason for the 'gloomy' part. As for me being ill...not anymore! I think I just ate something that triggered the sickness. I went to bed [well, planned] earlier last night. I had a good night sleep [but still lacking some more] and woke up as if

Of Crabs and Cakes...

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I was younger, two of my favorite seafood recipes that my mother made were some kind of a shrimp dish and crab cakes. I tried to make the shrimp recipe but it seems that I may not be able to duplicate her recipe because there are some ingredients that are only found in the Philippines or some Asian stores here. The one that I can ‘possibly’ duplicate is crab cakes because all of the ingredients in her recipe are found here in our local supermarket. But I have another problem…I am not a good cook. I try but I guess some people are just blessed with culinary skills, my mother included. If YOU have a recipe for crab cakes that you can share with me, please do. I will forever be thankful if your recipe will tickle my taste buds. Anyway, right now I am hyped up with the coming Great American Seafood Cook Off! Why? Because it is during this kind of event that we get to witness some really great home made dishes. And it’s a seafood Cook off !!! This means tha
One of those Days...
Yep, it's been like this since this morning. It stopped for a couple of hours but it's now back. The worms are out from their nesting places because it's too wet for them to stay down there. Me? I'm a bit under the [rainy?] weather. I had one restless night. I woke up at about 1AM with my WWIII going in my belly. Well, not quite like that but it was noisy so I got up. Let's just say that I spent a good hour paying [dis]respect to the porcelain throne. I'm feeling much better now...still a bit weak but I can manage. I have been in bed most of the day...with my laptop of course. I didn't do much work though. I just read and did some hopping. It's almost dinner time here. We're having spaghetti tonight...rather...they're having spaghetti tonight and I don't know what I'm having yet. Oh well... Anyway, gotta go for now. See you...
18 Children???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let me just say that having a child is and will always be one of the best things that happened to me. But having 18 of them??? Ummmm....not quite sure about that. But this is what a couple in British Columbia has now...18 children in all. The mother is Livia Ionce and she's 44 years old. But she and her husband are just second to the Duggar couple who has 19 children of their own. Wow...I know that children are the greatest gift a couple can have but I'm not sure about having more than 10, wait...not even more than 1 at this moment...LOL! But, hats off to these couples. I'm sure they have one heck of challenge ahead of them...well, maybe not. They say that once you have 2, having 3 or 10 will just be the same. Is it?

An Unplanned Detox?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What a night I had. I was up half the night hugging the porcelain throne if you know what I mean. I don’t know what I ate but I felt like I was literally “flushed” when I was done. I’m feeling better now even though I feel a bit weak. Anyway, after that episode I thought of what the husband said this weekend. He said that he bought grapefruits for his breakfast because he wants to flush out the toxins in his body. Well, I ate some of the grapefruit so I’m thinking that maybe that’s what it was, eh? Now that I think about it, maybe we can actually start doing that seriously, you know 'detoxifying our body'. So I went and look up "detoxify whole body" and I found this ionic detoxification foot bath that we can purchase online through Reliable Remedies. It's like a foot spa that we can do at home but it actually helps release those toxins out of our body. It's very interesting actually. The site has also massagers and other cleansi
This thing called "PR"....
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...and no, I am not talking about " Public Relations " or " Public R estrooms ". I am talking about "that" PR ...and if you're a blogger you know what I'm talking about! I'm talking about this ONE!! So many things have been written err..blogged about this famous [infamous?] PR. We all have our own take on it. A lot of people tried to dissect, understand, analyze or just plain explain it. We all want to have the very elusive PR...but what does it take to get it? Obviously, it's not grammar...har har har. Is it content? Maybe? But content is not everything. So what do we need to do to get, at least a PR1??? Honestly, I have no clue! BUT I know from experience that the following don't really have that much of an impact to MY Blogs getting a PR. Again, this is only based on my PERSONAL blogging experience..and this is ONLY for PR [not Alexa or Technorati or Yahoo or any other that I don't know about]. * Rem

Hopping

Image
Yep, I'm hopping here in MY OWN blog since I wasn't able to be here much today. Everything was quite hectic in my turf today so I wasn't even able to update my blogs until now. It's way past my bedtime already so I have to say goodnight or else my allergy will bother me tomorrow. To all of you who came by...MUCHOS GRACIAS! Shie she....Thanks much....Maraming Salamat! I hope you won't get tired coming here even if I sometimes can't return the favor right away.

Making the Impossible...Possible!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Retiring early has been one of our goals ever since my husband and I got married. But with the current state of the economy, we may have to rethink this plan…unless we find a way to save more for our future without killing ourselves working. We have the normal IRA and 401K but we want to do some retirement investing that will produce a high margin of return and is not high risk. Is there such a thing? Apparently, there is…with Diamond Bay Investments. I went to visit their site and it looks promising to us. With their high yield first trust deeds and hard money lending system, we can get a 12% return rate. Aside from that impressive return rate, Diamond Bay Investments will also be with us every step of the way...before, during and after the process. That alone makes me want to give it a try. Hey, early retirement may not be impossible after all.
Weekend...
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... on our side of the globe is almost over! We had a wet weekend as usual. This morning, it rained just as the husband was opening the garage door to cut the grass! It was totally unexpected because the sun was shining minutes before he went out. So he had to wait it out until after the rain to do the mowing. Anyway, the little one had an exciting weekend. Yesterday, Dad bought her a bike...her first bike. Well, she had the baby 3-wheeler one but this one is a big girl's bike. She was so excited to ride it although she's still a wee bit afraid. She rode it in the house first then they went in the driveway to give it a spin. So she was so tired last night because of that. After dinner tonight, she and Dad went to the small park a few blocks from our house to try out her bike in the parking lot there. They were only gone for a few minutes because of the...you guessed it...RAIN. Anyway, here she is with her new bike and helmet. Look at that face! Can y

Do I have a CHOICE???

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just like a lot of other kids, our little one here wants our full attention everytime she wants to show us something. It can be a dance she just saw on TV or a song she heard from her shows or a joke she read in one of her books...she wants us to be paying attention all the time. Since that's not always possible, I would sometimes pretend that I'm listening to her. It worked for a while but she has gotten smarter because after she said something now she would ask me what she 'actually' said. Yep, she would ask me to REPEAT what she said! Something that I used to do to my students who were not listening during my lectures. During the weekends, I am somewhat given a break because she has Dad to bother as well. But on the weekdays, it's all ME!! Hay.... Anyway, her favorite intro is: Can I show you a dance? or Can I show you a song? or Can I tell you a joke??? Since she would ask me these questions maybe 20x/day, I recently, I started
Tagging Along....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part of my husband’s job as a business owner is to go on business trips to meet potential customers. Early this week he met customers in Texas and in Mexico. A few weeks ago, they went to Georgia. He said that in the near future, he may have to go to Missouri as well. I know that it’s necessary for him to go on these trips and since he can’t pass them up, I asked him if we can tag along in one of his trips. He agreed to it and asked me to look online if there’s anything we can do in Branson Missouri . So I went online and typed “Branson vacations” in the search box. One of the names that popped up is Branson Getaway. It’s a site that offers vacation packages that are very affordable. The packages include accommodations as well as tickets to some of the attractions around the area such as the Silver Dollar City and shows that are held regularly. After seeing all these, I will try to convince the husband to let us tag along during his trip to Branson, MO. Aft

For Someone Special Online...a Tag...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is an overdue tag from Wheng of In Depth . I've been quite busy for the past few days [weeks?] that I just couldn't find the time to do tags. So now that I have a few minutes to spare, I decided to post it. Aside from having a free time, I've also been tagged numerous times by my different blogger friends...I can't even recall all of them anymore so I won't even try to jot them down here as I may miss some. I just mentioned Wheng since she was the one that started this going. So to all of my friends who passed this one on to me...THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I truly appreciate the thought. Rainy Weekend!!
Image
Yep, that's the conversation we're having right now. We woke up to a sunny Saturday...but that's about it. It just started raining..and it looks like it's going to be raining for a while. I just finished having lunch. I'm a bit tired....still. I'm not sure why because I had a good night sleep last night...I think. I wonder if this weather has something to do with it? Anyway, I still have a few more tasks to finish. After that I may just take a nap as I feel like collapsing here on my keyboard.
Diet Pills...do they work?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have this friend who’s been struggling with her weight for years. Ever since I’ve known her, she’s been on a constant diet. She also tries to go to the gym regularly but nothing seems to work. Lately she’s been talking about trying one of those diet pills she’s been reading about. I really don’t know much about diet pills so I did some research and I found this site that does reviews on different diet pills. The site is very informative and it answers questions like: does Lipovox work or which places sell the cheapest diet pills. I really don’t know if my friend should take diet pills or not. One thing I know, I’m going to tell her to research more on this. At least she will be armed with information so she can make a wise decision. I just hope she finds something that will work for her.

Happy Weekend....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's the weekend once again! Time surely flies, doesn't it? It's also the last weekend of July. Now, that's fast. It seems that it's only yesterday when we welcomed 2008...now we're more than halfway through. Where did time go??? We have no plans for the weekend [nothing new there]...except the usual work, clean, work. The husband will probably do some yard work and the little one will...what else: SING! Well, and play of course. I am about to retire for the day because my eyes are just too tired. I am also too tired to think so doing some work at this time is just out of the question. One of my team members asked me a question a few minutes ago about something [work related of course] and I couldn't give her a straight answer! Yep, I'm that tired. Hopefully I will be much better tomorrow after I get a much needed sleep. So goodnight y'all! Enjoy the weekend!
Loving our Faucets...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One of things I love about our new house are the faucets. You see, in our old house the faucets were very hard to clean. So I had to use cleaners to clean them…and I hate the smell of the cleaners because they trigger my allergies. That is no longer a problem for me now. We have Delta faucets here in our new house and let me tell you, these faucets are very easy to clean. I have never used cleaners on them because all I have to do is wipe them off with a towel, or paper towel and they shine like brand new again. I can safely say that choosing Delta faucets is probably one of the best decisions we made as far as this house is concern.

Randy Pausch of "Last Lecture" Dies...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Randy Pausch , the Professor who became famous because of his " Last Lecture " died today, July 25, 2008 at his home in Virginia. He was 47 years old. In September 2006, Mr. Pausch was diagnosed with the incurable pancreatic cancer. He became a worldwide celebrity because of the lecture which according to him was originally made for his children. But once it hit the net, the lecture became an inspiration to people from all over the world. I watched him at the Oprah Show twice...the original telecast and the replay. His outlook in life was really a breath of fresh air as it's very inspiring. He also co-wrote the book "The Last Lecture" which stays as one of the top seller since it's publication in April. For those who have not watched "The Last Lecture", I found a You Tube video of and I'm posting it here for you to see. Take time to watch it. It's really inspirational. From: Yahoo , You Tube , CMU
Offers for Paid Posts??????
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you get emails to do this? I used to get them about once a week before then they stopped. So far I only accepted ONE of the offers and it was earlier this year I believe. He paid me up front...meaning, he put the money in my PayPal before I started posting. He also wrote the entries so all I had to do was post them. I posted 10 in my blog sparingly...and he didn't pay me a fortune to do it. He paid me a reasonable amount of money considering I would only post and not write anything. Yesterday I got an email about 'posting' paragraphs here. Actually the email was supposed to be a follow-up. Well, I never had any kind of correspondence with this certain individual so I replied that he sent the email to the wrong person. Today I got a reply...an offer of a certain amount to post a paragraph [about 4 or 5 lines with the same number of links] on my blog. Red flags came up so I declined. -->> First, the offer is too much money for a very sh

Is it Any Surprise....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... that there is a chance some celebrities who recently had twins actually used IVF or invitro fertilization?I guess it is as it's still in the headlines if and when some people start speculating about it...with the help of some so called 'reliable sources'. I was browsing the net yesterday [or the day before] and I came across an article that famous couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt MAY have resorted to IVF treatment to conceive the 'multi-million dollar twins' they just had recently. So is that any surprise at all? They can afford it and they go for it. A lot of people, celebrity and non-celebrity, take advantage of this procedure so why is it such a big deal when famous people choose to do it. Some of the celebrities choose to have babies late in their lives so this is probably the only way for them to go. It should be big news if a 65 year old had a baby without the help of IVF. But then again, if that person is not a movie star
Our Life: The Musical
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a continuation of my earlier post about our non-stop chatter/singing box . Yes, she's still singing up until this minute. She's now watching her shows. I thought it's going to be quiet for about an hour or so. Yeah, right! That's wishful thinking. Everytime there's a gap in her shows, she'd get up and SING! She even sings in the shower now that she's doing it all on her own. I never, ever, sung in the shower! She's been singing: " I've Been Working On a Railroad " on and off since Dad got home. So in-between her shows she was singing it again. But this time with a twist...after the part on the song that goes: "Dinal blow your horn"....she would blow on her flute! When we heard it the first time, we just shook our heads and smiled. But after about the 15th time...we just raised our hands and gave up! So now the husband came up with the title... "Our Life: The Musical" So when you don'

Dinner is a....

Image
...and our "dinner journey" is successful!!! Hehehe....I can't find an image that only says success so I used this one... Anyway, it's 6:20 PM our time and dinner for the little one and the husband is done! I mean...they already finished eating it...as of an hour ago! Yes, they ate at around 5:30... The little one kept saying: "This is the best spaghetti I have ever had in my entire life!" For the record, she says that everytime she's eating the food that she likes...almost everything I should add. All that's left is the kitchen sink full of dirty dishes and the dishwasher that I need to unload so I can load the next batch. After that, I am off to eat my dinner. I don't like spaghetti...never did so I only make it for the father and son tandem. I eat it...but I won't if I can help it. I don't like red sauce on pasta that's why. I like white sauce so there.... By the way, I did some hopping today. I'm more than halfway through...ho

Brochures

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I know for a fact that owning a business is hard work. The husband and a partner own their own small business and I can tell that it’s hardly a walk in the park. Competition is fierce so they have to prove themselves to customers, old and new, that they are the better choice compared to their competitors. But what happens if they don’t have customers to prove themselves to? The business will fail of course. They need to make sure that they first get to these customers. There are several ways to do that…and it’s all about advertising. They have business cards and a website but what they’re looking into doing now is getting some brochures made about their company. Brochures are a great way to put their name out there as they can leave them in some places like grocery stores or airports where people from all walks of life go to everyday. They need colorful ones that catch attention. But they don’t have a big budget for it. So they’re looking for afford
She's Singing...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... a medley of her songs....Old McDonalds, Winnie the Pooh...etc. In normal circumstances it would have been fine by me...but she's supposed to be doing her workbook! I asked her if she's done so she stopped singing to say: Not yet...hayyy.... She just doesn't stop talking, singing or what not even if she's doing something else. There are mornings when she wakes up way too early for me to get up. I sometimes get up but sometimes I just can't. So what does she do when she's up and I'm not? SING!!!!...at the top of her voice....at 7 AM some days. She does it in her bedroom but I can still hear her. Oh well...I guess I should be happy she's a happy little lady...I just wish she would shut up sometimes...ya know?:i

Another Day...

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yep, another day to look forward to. Nope, I'm not going to wish for a rain-free day. Wanna' know why? Because it's already raining! Well, it's done...for now. It's still very cloudy and I am sure there will be more rain later on. Good thing the husband took the trash out before he left this morning or I wouldn't have been able to do so because of the rain. The dump truck came by already and I just have to go out there to get the trash can. Fun! The little one woke up just as Dad was leaving for work - about 5 AM. She said she smelled spaghetti!!! At 5 in the morning?? Well, I told her last night before going to bed that if she does not call me in the middle of the night, then I'll make her the spaghetti for dinner. She didn't...so she was probably 'hallucinating' about the spaghetti... Anyway, as soon as Dad left I started making the sauce. It's now simmering in the crock pot...teasing the little one's no
It Worked....
Image
My ' wish' for a rain-free day was granted! When I was writing that entry, it was already getting really cloudy that I thought I would have to shut down my computer right after. But nope....the rain that the weatherman predicted here didn't happen in our neck of the woods! Yeah!! Hurricane Dolly still slammed some parts of Texas but it didn't stay long. According to the news, it dumped a lot of water but the damage is not as they were expected. I'm not sure what happened to the other one but I hope it left us already. See, wishes do come true....hehehe. So I'd probably write another 'wish' post tomorrow....watch for it! Ciao!
Here's.....
Image
Of course that goes without saying that I AM also wishing for us to have a SUNNY DAY today. After that on and off nasty weather yesterday, I can use one full day of sun without rain and/or thunder/lightning! BUT...it's not happening. The weather channel here says that we will have later in the day so I decided to put the big 'ol sunshine face here...to fool me...LOL! Anyway, we're back to normal today. The husband arrived home after midnight last night. The little one of course had to wait for Dad even if it's way past her bedtime. She just missed her Dad so much that she wouldn't even dare close her eyes. As soon as Dad got home, she gave him the biggest hug she could...then presented him with the 'cards' she made for him while he was away. So now I'm back to my normal programming....making dinner at a certain time. Well, that's the only difference actually. When it's just the little girl and me home, I make what she wants and I make what I want
On and Off Because of....
Image
Yes, we are experiencing this kind of weather on and off throughout the day today. I've been in and out of the blogesphere trying to do some decent hopping and work but it's just not possible. The husband is on his way home from Texas. We spoke with him but we got disconnected because of a power surge brought about by There are 2 storms right now that are affecting our area...that's probably why we're having so much of this... So if you see me now you don't, blame it on the Sigh....
Howdy?
Image
Yep, it's Tuesday once again! How's everyone doing? Us? We're doing ok. The little one and I just spent our first night here in the new house with just the 2 of us. Yep, Daddy is in Texas since yesterday for a business meeting. He'll be back later today so he's only away for a night and 2 days. The little one is busy right now making cards and what nots for Dad! She's been watching the phone, waiting for her Dad's call. Mind you, he calls maybe 3 times a day but it's not enough for her because she's not used to being away from him. Ge this, as soon as she woke up yesterday she already wrote "Welcome Home, Dad" on her white board....and he left yesterday! Ha! Anyway, I hope everyone's having a good week so far. It's only Tuesday but it feels like the end of the week for me already. I wonder if that has something to do with the husband being away. Hmm... can you say the little one is not the only excited for Dad's homecoming later
Payday Loan to the Rescue...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let’s face it, life is tough nowadays. Some people are surviving with what they’re making but a lot of people are not. Everything is just so expensive and is getting more expensive by the minute. In our household, only my husband is working full-time. I work at home part time to help some. So far we’re hanging in there. For how long, no one can tell. I’m just glad that in case of emergency there is Cheap Payday Loan available to us….which we can apply for online. Yep, it’s very convenient as it’s something we can do even in the comfort of our homes. Since it’s online, anyone from anywhere in the country can avail of it. At least there is something we can count on at this time of uncertainties.

How's MY Day???

Image
Indeed it has been a very tiring day! I have been busy doing some cleaning and straightening up here in our humble abode....hay....so what did I do??? I was finally able to clean the computer room which became our 'dump' room during the move. It's where all the bags, boxes etc that are not part of the basic necessities plus the 2 computers we have, were dumped. Needless to say, it's like a tornado wheezed through that room. This weekend, the husband finally got one of the computer tables from the other house. He just put it in the middle of the room, in the middle of all the messsss.....He was pretty tired moving a lot of big stuff that's why. So today I finally decided to get in there and tackle the job. Now, all we have on the floor are the computers -cpus, monitors, scanners and printers. Yeah! It's up to the husband to assemble everything. I don't want to mess with them...with all the cables coming out them?? No way!! Next in my agenda was the little one

A Lullaby....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nah...I'm not posting a lullaby here. I just thought I'd share a cute story here about our little one. Well, what she did anyway. It's a sunny day here today in our neck of the weeds...este woods. So while I worked, the husband decided to go to our other house to pick up some of our big stuff that we left there like an armoire for our bedroom, the little one's dresser and some other things. Aside from that, he also went to the dumps to dump some tree limbs that he cut here in our backyard. So he was pretty much beat after all that. So we were sitting on the bed late in the afternoon. I was still typing away while watching some TV. The little one was sitting between me and the husband. What was she doing? Well, she was watching at first, then she started humming, then she started singing: "Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby" over and over again. Before I knew it, someone was already sleeping. When I looked over to my husband, it was him.
A Note to say....
Image
....to all of you who read and commented on my post about my beloved 'Tatang' . I truly appreciate each and everyone of you who took time to do so.
8 Years....
Image
...since my Tatang passed. Just like my Nanay who 'left' 4 months ahead of him, I miss him so much. I was, am, and will always be his little girl. My throat hurts at this moment while typing because I'm trying not to cry as the little one is here beside me. So who is this man we fondly call 'Tatang'? He's a very hardworking man who spent his entire life trying to make a living to support everyone in his family, some siblings and his mother included. He never finished school because at the age of 16, he was already working full time to help augment his family's income. He got married a bit late [at 29] because of this "responsibility". He and my mother didn't start a family of their own right away because he wanted to help his family a little more I guess. We didn't have a lot of material things growing up but he made it a point to be there all the time. I remember not having a television set for the first 12 years of my life but
Guess what???????
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It didn't rain today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!! After days and days of rain, we finally had one that is rain-free. The husband said that the rain is actually good as it's particularly hot this summer. I actually don't mind the rain because I'm always indoors but if it happens daily for days in a row, then that's a different story. So today was such a breath of fresh air. I am still hoping and praying that the weekend will be rain-free as well. We really have to move some of our other stuff from the other house to here already. We also need to straighten up the other house so if and when someone wants to buy it, it will at least be presentable. Fingers crossed we can move the rest of the stuff by this weekend. Anyway, I am logging off here as I am really tired. I didn't do much today but like I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I am not feeling well....not too bad but I am hoping that turning in a little early tonight will make me f

Furniture here and there...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Choosing the right furniture for a new house proved to be a not so easy task for me and my husband. As soon as we hit the furniture stores, we realized that we just didn’t want to pick the pieces just because we want to get it over and done with. So now, we are still not done with our furniture shopping. I, of course, am doing a lot of online window shopping. This is how I found Contract Furniture. This place sells restaurant furniture but I have seen some pieces that I’m actually interested in…mostly for the outdoors. The husband is planning in having the outdoor furnished in the future so this place is a great find for us because aside from having really nice looking furniture, the price are within our price range. Hopefully, in the months to come, I can post some pictures here in my blog of both the inside and outside of our my favorite topic here….our house!
What's for Dinner???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's our little one's favorite question I think. Everyday without fail, she has to ask me what we're having for dinner...sometimes as early as after [or during] breakfast. So what did you have for dinner tonight? Us? Well, my father and daughter tandem had tacos with ground turkey. We don't eat beef here anymore. We used to but we seem to be getting not so good meat so we decided to stop buying beef and use ground turkey instead for our tacos and burgers. As for me...I had rice and 'tuyo'....the bottled tuyo. It's not as good as the real one but I can't fry them here, especially with the 'noses' I have in the house. They just stink up the whole house so I have no choice but to settle with the bottled tuyo...better than no tuyo at all, ya know. I also had the 'crab meat' in bottle...yep, taba ng talangka...can you say: CHOLESTEROL!!!! Oh well...I only eat that once in a blue moon...and tonight...the moon i

Affordable and Quality Business Checks...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It’s now 3 weeks since we moved into our new home. The transition has been good so far and we’ve managed to do almost everything that needed done with the move. One of the things that we still need to do though is get new checks that reflect our new address. I've just started looking and since I have been surfing online for the best deals on checks, my husband asked me to also look into business checks because they also need new ones for their small business soon. So I have been looking for that as well. Guess what? I already found some really cool designer checks that will be perfect for their business…and I still have not found one that I really like for our personal checks. Isn’t that a pity? How I wish Choice Checks also makes personal checks so I can shoot two birds with one stone. The checks they make are of high quality and are very affordable so I’m really hoping they start making personal checks in the future. I can wish, right?
Why did YOU get Married???
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Have you ever been asked that question?? Me? Not really. I was actually asked the opposite all the time! Well, that was when I was still unmarried of course. I actually remember my parents telling me, reminding me, when I was still in college that I could think about getting married [and dating as well] when I'm done with school. I heeded their advice. I waited, and waited, and waited. When I reached maybe 28, they started asking me: When are you getting married??? Huh? Didn't you tell me I had to wait until I'm done with school? I was a teacher so I guess they didn't think I will ever be done with school..LOL! I just shrugged my shoulders and told them I have not found the "one". Ha! Typical, eh? Funny how they tried to stop me from getting married earlier then started pushing me to get married when they realized I was not getting any younger. Well, I took my sweet time looking for the right one...and I did. And I'm glad I wait

Halloween Costume Galore....

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you ask the little one here what her favorite holiday is, she will say without batting an eyelash: Halloween! So we are on the lookout for Halloween costumes year round and not just when Halloween is near. She’s been donning a Halloween costume every year eversince she was a few months old and we still have all of her costumes from the past 5 years. I personally donned some Halloween costumes as well. In my past life that is. I taught for more than 10 years and it’s a regular event in the schools I worked for to have the Halloween festivities every year. As a homeroom adviser, I had to put on a costume myself to encourage my students to participate….and to have fun of course. In one of the Halloween events in the school I worked for, one of my new co-teachers decided to surprise us with her costume. We were all in the gym of the school when she came in wearing this: Sexy Sheriff Dress We all liked it of course…except for the nuns who run the sch
Thursday...a Cold???
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yeah...it feels like I'm getting the 'regular cold'. Well, I call it the "regular cold" because I have allergies and if you ask the people around me, there is really no difference to them whether what I have is 'the cold' or the 'allergy'. Hay....anyway, I've been feeling a bit 'cra**y since I woke up this morning so I took my special medicine...hahaha. Nah, I just took the cold and allergy pill I have...and it seems to be working. As usual it's gloomy here right now. I'm sure it will start pouring again in a few minutes. Arrgg...the neverending rain! We're hoping though that it won't rain this weekend as we still have some stuff we need from the other house. We weren't able to get anything for the past 2 weekends because of this rain. Anyway, I hope everyone out there is having a good day. Stay out of trouble, would ya?

Here I Go Again....

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My, my here I go again thinking about taking that much needed, maybe wanted, vacation. Like I’ve been mentioning here over and over again, a vacation, a family vacation of course will be ideal for us right now. “Ideal” being the key word here as it seems to be something we won’t be able to do for quite some time. I have had a lot of summer vacations. I’ve been to some really cool places but my first time here in the US will always be one of the more memorable, if not the most, vacations I’ve ever had. Where was it? It was in California and Nevada. Yep, those 2 states. There are a lot of things to do in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. But my friends made sure they brought me to the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. While in Las Vegas, we went to the casinos of course and we visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. There I ‘met’ some of my Hollywood idols…well, sorta’. But that was before when I was not a ‘family’ girl yet. Now that I have my own fami
