In my quest to finish posting the tags I was given, I am posting another one. This time it's from Jona. She actually gave me another one which is the Fabulous Award but since I posted that one 2x here already, I opted not to post it anymore. Nonetheless, thanks much for the thought Jona. It's very much appreciated.
The temperature here right now is in the mid 50s. It's still comfortable inside the house since we have the heater at 75F. I am in my shirt & shorts of course. According to the local news here, we're expecting a cold front soon so I'd probably be in my jammies through the weekend! Sweet!
Anyway, our local team is not playing so we are not rooting for a particular team. May the better team wins...that's our motto right now. The husband is the only one who will be glued on the TV set as I don't watch the game in its entirety. I just glimpse every now and then especially during the Superbowl commercials. Most of them are really funny. I wonder if there will be a commercial about adult diapers this time around. They had a baby in last year's ads so why not have something that involves the oldies this time, eh? With or without babies or oldies ads, I'm sure there will be some worth waiting for.

Talk about a downer. It's raining here right now! Just what I need to perk me up and get moving, eh?
After days of temperature in the 70s, we're now in the 60s. Not bad....if it's not raining! Here I am still in my sleeping 'sexy' attire of long jammies & robe! Not! I'm typing away hoping to get some things accomplished before the day is over.
I have a lot of things to do actually and I'm slowly...really slowly getting them done one at a time. With the rate I'm going, I'll be done....by next week. Arrghh.....
Anyway, enough of my lazy self....I hope you're having a great day! Let's hope I'll be able to turn mine into one....
Off we went to the store. We went through the toy sections. We found a couple and we got them but we're not satisfied. We're not going out this weekend as the forecast is not good weather-wise...beside, it's the Superbowl weekend! So no shopping spree can be scheduled. As the days passed I am seriously considering gift cards...for a 1-year old. Why not, right? Her parents will be able to use it....and buy her diapers! Just what she needs...ha!
I'm still struggling here with 'lazyness'....so I'll keep this short and sweet.

I've been reserving opps here and there only to let them expire on me. I think I took one opp about 5 times and never really got down into writing about it. Sigh....
Right now I am having dinner [spam & rice] while writing this. The father and daughter are taking their showers and I'm just here sitting waiting for the little one to finish hers. She usually finishes last....because she's sooooo sloooowwww.....
Anyway, I better get off here. I think she's almost done...
I taught in only 2 different schools when I was still working as a teacher. In both schools, I had several co-teachers who were unattached. Come to think of it, a lot of those co-teachers are still unattached up to this day. It seems to be a norm among teachers to stay single for life and if not, get hitched at a much later age. Why? Well, some say it’s because teachers don’t have the time to go out and find ‘love’. I can believe that but I also believe that if there’s a will, there’s a way. Nowadays, it seems that the internet is "the way" for most to find love and that’s true not only for teachers.
I met my husband online. That was more than 7 years ago and site I met him does not cater to a specific kind of audience…only to those who are ‘looking’. So it’s like a ‘hit or miss’ in terms of meeting someone with the same interest as you. Today though, there are sites that are around specifically started for people with the same line of interest. One site that does this is called equestrian cupid . Yep, it’s a site specifically for those who love horses. I think it’s a great idea to come up with such site. At the very least, you will get to meet someone who has the same interest as you. The site offers FREE sign-up for everyone who may be interested in joining. So if you know anyone who is a horse lover and still looking for that special someone to share life with, let him or her know about this site. Valentine's day is just around the corner and everyone deserves someone special on this day....
His picture is obviously photoshopped but it's cute nonetheless....I just had to post them here... again....

Earlier this week, I was watching a show where Amy Poehler, an alum of Saturday Night Live was a guest. She was promoting a show at Cozmo TV called Smart Girls at the Party. I got curious because she said that this show is all about young girls being themselves. She said that the show’s aim is to be a positive influence to all the young girls out there. That is enough to make me visit the site and true enough, this showcases young girls with their unique talents. The particular video I watched if of the 12-year old girl who does what she calls ‘praise dancing’ and is a member of a Steel Orchestra. She’s not afraid to veer from the norm to be herself and that to me is admirable. When my little one is old enough, I will let her see this show for herself because I want her to get all the positive influences she can possible get.
Smart Girls at the Party is only one of the many shows at Cozmo TV. You can choose from the different shows they have by using their widget and you can get your own widget here. I checked the different shows shown on Cozmo TV by using the widget I downloaded from there and was able to see sneak previews of the different CBS Shows. Check it out.

Anyway, I've had a not so productive today...work wise of course. I did the usual chores and did some blogging but that's about it. The weather here is very pleasant the last few days. Lowest are in the 50s and highest are in the 70s since Monday. It will be in the 30s towards the end of the week but that's a couple days to go. Hopefully it doesn't rain because I'm planning in doing some weeding tomorrow if work does not pick up....
Time to call it a day....thanks for dropping by today.
PS...I'll try to do the tags soon...as soon as I find them of course...
When the husband and his partner started their small business about 2 years ago, they wanted to have a shirt that will carry their logo. Due to some budget constraints then, my husband took matters into his own hands and bought a couple of shirts and ‘ironed’ the logo he printed on his computer on those shirts. Voila…instant company shirts. The shirts are history now and lasted only a few months. Since they now have some budget, they are looking at getting some embroidered products like hats and shirts they can use for themselves and their reps in different states. They are looking for a place that offers affordable packages and one that does not require minimum quantities since they don’t want to order more than they need. I guess Threadsmith will be perfect for them then. Aside from being affordable and not requiring set up fees, it’s easy to upload logos and designs in their site that even I can probably do it! Finally, something more presentable to represent their company....ha!
Aren't they cute?? They're the Jolie-Pitt kids and I just couldn't get my eyes off them! I've been staring at them since I saw them in the different online magazines...so I thought of posting their pics here so I won't go back to the sites numerous times....hehe...

Today we went out...guess what we saw at the store...this one!!!
The exact same toy phone I was 'contemplating' of getting when we couldn't find what we were looking for. She wanted it as soon as she saw it so we got it.....for $5.97! I knew we should have just gotten her this one....

My new laptop broke and I had allergy attack the whole day. That's how my Friday went. Yep, my spankin' new laptop that the husband gave me for Christmas is broken. The bulb for the monitor is dead. I guess it just went out while I was sleeping because it was working fine when I shut if off Thursday evening. When I turned it on Friday morning, it's all dark. I can still what's on the screen but it was too dark to actually read anything. The husband had to point a flashlight on it so he could see what's on the screen. So it's going back to the seller and I'm back to my old laptop.
Added to that, I had allergy attack the whole day. I was sneezing non-stop and my eyes were watery. All I wanted to do was sleep which I couldn't do because I had to finish some things. So, is it a TGIF for me then? I guess. Friday is before the weekend so that means hubby will be home...and that's enough reason to say TGIF.
Anyway, after days of freezing temperatures around here, it's now a comfortable 65 degrees. We're planning to go out sometime later. The husband will get a hair cut while the little one and I will go around the stores looking for area rugs that we can put in the living room. We've been looking for one but we haven't found one yet. If we can't find it in the stores around here, we'd probably get one online.
Have a good weekend everyone! Enjoy it.

I asked her to read 1 book a day. They are paperbacks and each book has an average of 60 pages only so it's manageable. Needless to say, she already finished all of the 28 books. I am planning in asking her to re-read them and discuss each with her.
The books are educational. One book is all about thanksgiving and how it all started, one book is about the Civil War while another one is about the Revolutionary War. I believe there are more Magic Tree House books so I've been looking for the best deals on them...in set if possible as they're much cheaper that way.
Anyway, I was asked by Wena what age the little one started reading. I'm not sure what age exactly but I remember taking a picture of her when she finished reading her first 'real book'... Dick & Jane. It was September 8, 2005 so she was a little over 3 years old when she finished reading that book. Here's that picture.
Here's another picture I snapped in January 2006. The books were 'hand me downs' given to her by the husband's friend. As soon as she got her hands on them, she started taking out the ones that caught her interest.

A set of encyclopedia. That was my biggest wish when I was still grade school, high school up to college. I envied those kids who had their own set at home and didn’t have to stay late in school to do some research. My wish was never granted so I spent countless hours in libraries to finish book reports, thesis and research papers. I told myself that when I start working and can afford it, I will buy me a set of encyclopedia to compensate for the hardship I went through just to finish my book reports. Little did I know that I didn’t have to because the internet will be invented down the road.
Today when we need to research on something, all we have to do is to turn on the computer and do a search using search engines. With just the click of the mouse, we can get thousands of results to a single search. The only question now when we need to search for something is: Which search engine should I use? How about LeapFish? It’s the latest in online searching. LeapFish is a click-free search interface that produces results even before you finish typing what you’re looking for. Yep, it starts working as soon as you start typing. Now, where do you find something like that? So if you want to experience the future in online searching, try LeapFish and see for yourself. I’m sure you’ll go back to it over and over again when you need to find something….
_Surround yourselves with loyal friends.
_Trick-or-treat down the plane aisle if you're traveling on Halloween.
_Cherish your pets "because sometimes you'll need the quiet comfort that only animals can provide."
_And this: "Slide down the banister of the solarium, go to T-ball games, have swimming parties, and play Sardines on the White House lawn. Have fun and enjoy your childhood in such a magical place to live and play."Isn't that a nice gesture?
We signed a 6-month contract with them. After a month or so, someone wanted to buy it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out because he had some problems with his financing. Our contract with the realtor is about to expire already and we haven’t heard anything from them. I’m sure that the realtors know what they’re doing but maybe I tell the husband to call them and let them know about the 101 Home Selling and Staging Tips that Energized Seller have in their website. Maybe if they follow the tips our house will be sold in no time, eh?
Right now, Energized seller has an ongoing fun contest that anyone can join in and it involves what everyone loves…pet pictures. Just like any other kids, our little one wants a pet dog or cat but we were not sure how she'll take of a pet so we started out small...a pet turtle. Well, that pet is not so small anymore. Here it is with the little one. She said she's walking it like a dog...hmmm...
Aren't they cute together? Maybe we'll get her a dog one day. Anyway, if you enter a funny or scary picture of your pet, you will have the chance to win a $500 gift certificate from Home Depot or Lowe’s. I wonder if I should enter this picture?
... and these are the 'most attended fruits' tonight here in the Bay Area....strawberries. They are almost at their peak so the owners of the different strawberry farms around here are pulling all-nighters since last night.

I off to start making dinner already since it's 4:20 here now. I'm making the turkey burger with some soup....
Guess what I had for lunch? Strawberry smoothie and some potato rolls. With the cold temperature here, the little one asked for some smoothie believe it or not so I made some. Since I had no idea what to eat for lunch, I decided to make that my lunch. I'm not on diet or anything but it will be nice if I lose about 5 pounds this year. I am not overweight but my belly is poking out when it's not supposed to. You know what's poking out as well? A pimple on the lower right part of my face, by my jaw. I have not had a zit in years I think. The husband on the other hand has break outs every now and then so we have some acne treatment lying around here. I better put it on my zit before it gets bigger.
I woke up to a very cold day. I first felt the freezing temperature when hubby left for work. The current temperature is in the 30s but I'm hoping that it will go up to the 70s later so I can do some weeding outside...
Anyway, I got a couple of tags to post. One is from Eds of Just Me...eDs while the other one is from Kaye of Random Wahm Thoughts...thanks ladies.
...from Eds...I'm supposed to list 5 of my addictions....hmmm....I don't think I have any actually but I have some things I *really* like...chocolates, cakes, laptop, blogging...that's it I guess.
from Kaye...I'm supposed to list 6 things about me. Since I just did a post on that yesterday, I'm going to put a twist on this one and list 6 unforgettable things that happened to me throughout the years....how's that?
1. During my first year in college I got lost on my way from school to the dorm. I took the wrong jeepney. I got off the jeepney and tried to find my way back to the dorm...walking at around 7 at night. Scary to say the least.
2) I was not allowed to board the plane on my first trip to Taiwan. I didn't have the POEA permit because I was told [by the principal and my co-teacher traveling with me] I didn't need it. I told the Immigration officer that with my co-teacher vouching for me [she didn't have the permit herself and never did for the last 17 years she's been teaching in Taiwan]. That didn't work. I was not allowed to board while my co-teacher went through with no problem. I went back home then to POEA to get the dang permit against my principal's advice. I was the first Filipino teacher in that school in Taiwan who had to secure a permit from POEA to work there...talk about being a 'pioneer'...LOL...
3) I was riding the LRT that was bombed on December 30, 2000. I was on the 3rd coach...thank goodness.
4) A RayBan sunglasses given to me by my father was snatched off my face while riding a jeepney along Baclaran. I cried all the way home to Pampanga.
5) That same night, my father came home with a new pair for me. Not sure where he got the money since those buggers are expensive.
6) I had to sing solo in front of hundreds of people [mostly Taiwanese parents and students] during the Parents' day celebration in our school in 2001. It was nerve-wrecking considering I am not a singer and I have 'stage fright'...

The past couple of weeks have been really lazy for me. If I didn’t have the little chatterbox with me the whole day, I would probably go nuts doing nothing. Well, maybe not since I have the internet and the TV. Anyway, since I have not been doing much, work-wise that is, I spent majority of my time today making photo slides for a blog I started for my high school. I’ve been cutting, pasting and resizing the photos to make them identifiable and presentable. Most of the photos are old and I had to scan them so the results are not as good as digital pictures. Aside from that, I also did some surfing online for a lot of things. Come to think of it, there’s not a day when I’m online that I don’t actually search for something. This is why LeapFish will be for me when I do my normal online search.
So what exactly is LeapFish? It’s a multi-dimensional search engine that does the search as soon as you type the first letter of the word or words you’re searching about. I tried searching for something using it, and as soon as I hit the first character, results started coming up. Pretty neat, eh? Talk about major 'leap'. Check the LeapFish Blog if you want to learn more about this great search engine. Better still, watch and be amazed.
Take this 22-year old for instance. She's actually selling her virginity online. According to the news, the bid has netted to $3.7 Million already. Why oh why would she do something like that? Is it for the money? the fame? or just for the heck of it.
Whatever her reason is, I hope she does not fall prey to some wacko out there. But then again, if the news is accurate, I guess only a wacko would actually pay $3.7 Million for that, right?
If it’s bustling with excitement in Washington DC today, the same can’t be said around here. It’s been anything but exciting. Work is slow so I’m just sitting on the couch surfing online. I want to do some weeding but it’s too cold to go outside. What I’ve been doing is thinking and taking notes of the things we still need for the house like lights in some parts of the house. I saw Moroccan lanterns online a few days ago so I may go back to the site and see if there’s something there that will go with our house that I like.
Aside from the lights, we still need a corner curio for the living room. We’ve checked the stores around here but we couldn’t find the curio that the husband wants. He can be rather picky when it comes to things that will last us years. He wouldn’t settle for anything just because. Hopefully, he likes Moroccan lanterns so we can put a lantern by the front door already. I should probably bookmark the ones I like and show them to him tonight when he gets home.

Another week, another tag...ha! Weekend went by fast around here. Today is a national holiday but the husband is at work. They have some things to finish at work so they decided to come in today even if it's a holiday. Actually, they make their own holidays since they can choose their hours. I'm not complaining though since we've been together the whole weekend so today is just another work day.
As for me...I got a bit busy during the weekend because work came in late Friday evening. I didn't start working until Saturday morning though because the software for work is not working in the new computer. We figured it out Saturday morning so I spent the rest of the weekend keying...working.
Work is gone now so here I am blogging again. Umma passed this tag on to me...thanks Mommy! I'm not sure I can list 10 things that I have not listed here yet in the past but I'll try.
Here we go....Honest Scrap!
Honest Scrap Award Rules
When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.
Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!
1) I only have 8 pairs of shoes [2 - sandals, 3 - black shoes, a pair of running shoes, a pair of boots [?] and a pair slip-ons...and yes, I'm a woman. LOL....I just don't see why I would buy more than I need. I've only worn 5 of the pairs one time each.
2) I only have 2 bags....1 cross body and 1 hand bag...no shoulder bag, eh? I used to have a lot of bags when I was teaching but I gave them all away when I moved here. I am more of a wallet person actually. Oh and I have a back pack which I brought all the way from Taiwan. It used to be my travel bag.
3) I never thought I would ever get married. Not in my agenda actually....
4) My husband is my personal stylist....wardrobe stylist that is. If it were up to me, I'd be in shirt and shorts all the time.
5) I want to have a house in the Philippines someday. Our own house and not a relative's house.
6) I can stay in the house for months at a time.
7) I easily get hooked on something but I can shake it off as easily.
8) It's been 25 years [this year] since I graduated from high school...can you say O-L-D me?
9) My nickname in high school was Lola or Matua [old] partly because of my long hair. My high school classmates [and some teachers and school mates] still call me that...and I don't mind. It's like an endearment more than anything.
10) I want to retire in the Philippines...so does the husband actually. Hopefully that will happen.
That's it. Nothing interesting, eh? Please grab it if you want to and let me know when you're done so I can take a peek....

During the time when we were still planning of having a house built, it became our normal routine to go around checking out the different model homes around here. It was fun looking at different model houses from the not so expensive ones to the very expensive ones. The parts of the house that I would usually gravitate in were the bathrooms and the kitchens. I don’t know why but those two parts of the house seem to fascinate me. It was in one those trips to the model houses that I’ve seen these cool looking faucets which according to the person showing us the house are Grohe faucets. I made sure to take down note of that because I really like the faucets in the house. I was determined to have those faucets in the new house so I told our original builder about them and he agreed to use them. Unfortunately that builder’s promise fell through because he decided to file for bankruptcy taking our down payment with him. We weren’t able to use the faucets I like in this house because the builder has a contract with another company. I still like to have those faucets one day. Maybe next time…

...and it's a 1 in 3 award! It's from Lynn's Chic Spot and Madz of My Life Journey to Success. Thanks much, ladies.
1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!
3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.
We don't have anything planned except probably my driving. Yep, the husband asked me last night if I want to start learning today. Maybe.
While waiting for him, I am hoping that some work will be released. It's been kinda' slow for the last few weeks so I can't wait until we start being busy again. I wonder if I should start looking for home based business opportunities so I have something I can do while waiting for some work to be released. That's probably not a bad idea. Some of the home based businesses don't really need big capitals. I just have to find something I'm passionate about. I should probably start jotting down possible interesting business ideas.....

From the diary of a Pre- School Teacher
My five-year old students are learning to read.
Yesterday one of them, Nichole pointed at a picture in a zoo book and said,
"Look at this! It's a frickin' elephant!"
I took a deep breath, then asked..."What did you call it?"
"It's a frickin' elephant! It says so on the picture!"
And so it does...
" A f r i c a n Elephant "
Hooked on phonics! Ain't it wonderful?
Anyway, my former classmates have been prodding [bugging?] me to attend the said reunion since it will be a once in a lifetime event...at least to us. I have not said yes or no yet because I really don't know if I can make it or not. I am hoping I'll be able to make it since that will be the first time I'll be going back home after being away for 8 years. If I decide to attend, I may have to buy a couple of Zero Halliburton suitcases since we only have a couple of suitcases right now. If ever we go home, we can't stay long because the husband wouldn't take off work for more than 2 weeks.
I watched on TV as the passengers were being rescued yesterday but it's only today that I started reading the passengers account on what happened to them. I don't like traveling and flying is probably my least favorite mode of transportation. But if I have to fly, I wouldn't mind having Mr. Sullenberger as the pilot on the plane I'm on.

It was mealtime during a flight on Hooters Airline. 'Would you like dinner?' the flight attendant asked John. 'What are my choices?' John asked.
'Yes or no,' she replied.
SMART A** ANSWER #5 -- A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets. As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her.
Without missing a beat, she said, 'Sir, I need to see your ticket, not your stub.'
SMART A** ANSWER #4-- A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store but she couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a stock boy, 'Do these turkeys get any bigger?' The stock boy replied, 'No ma'am, they're dead.'
SMART A** ANSWER #3-- The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window. 'I've been waiting for you all day,' the cop said. The kid replied, 'Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could.' When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.
SMART A** ANSWER #2 -- A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads , ' Low Bridge overhead.' Before he knows it, the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, 'Got stuck, huh.' The truck driver says, 'No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas.'
SMART A** ANSWER OF THE YEAR 2008 -- A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam. 'Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury, illness, or a death in your immediate family, but that's it, no other excuses whatsoever!' A smart-a** guy in the back of the room raised his hand and asked, 'What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?' The entire class is reduced to laughter and snickering. When silence is restored, the teacher smiles knowingly at the student, shakes her head and sweetly says, 'Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand.'
Two bonus extras:
A blonde goes to the post office to buy stamps for her Christmas cards. She says to the clerk, 'May I have 50 Christmas stamps?'
The clerk says, 'What denomination?'
The blonde says, 'God help us. Has it come to this? Give me 6 Catholic, 12 Presbyterian, 10 Lutheran and 22 Baptists.'
Two: A woman is standing nude looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'
The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.'
He never heard the shot....
The little one is currently sulking in her bedroom [while reading her book for the day]. She ate a late breakfast and an hour later she's complaining of being hungry....again. How can that be? I told her to find what she wants to eat in a not so happy voice...now she's saying that she changed her mind. Hmmmm.....I know she's not hungry so I'm not really worried about her starving.
Anyway, I better get off here and continue with my 'things to do list'....have a great day everyone!
We had what I would call a perfect weather last week. It wasn’t too cold or too hot. I was able to stay outside to weed and rake and I didn’t feel that tired because of the pleasant weather. This week is a different story. It’s been raining and cold and I have not been out of the house since Monday, not even to get the mail. I cannot imagine how I’d be able to get out of bed if I am working out of the house…much less waking up the little one and getting her out of the door at a certain time so we could all make it to our destination on time. Thankfully, I am a work at home mom. It’s been more than 6 years since I started being a WAHM and it’s probably one of the best things that happened to me. I can work anytime I want and I can personally take care of the little one. I am even able to homeschool her for as long as I want to.
This is the reason why I am so thankful about blog advertising. Through my blog I can generate some income and continue doing what I am doing. I love to be at home. Being able to make money while I am at home is definitely an added bonus to it. Blogging has definitely been good to me. Aside from meeting people from all over the world and making friends with them, I can also make some money doing it. Thank you Paying Post for giving us the chance to make money while doing what we love to do. So if you have a blog and you want to make some money through it, visit Paying Post and make that happen. Make sure to visit the PayingPost’s Blog to learn more on how you can make money through your blog. You can thank me later.

I already posted this 'award' a few days ago. BUT...another blogger friend so kindly handed it to me [only?] yesterday with a very touching message in the post. Let me copy and paste her message for me....
I'm passing this AWARD...a truly heartfelt one to someone who has been very nice to me in the blogosphere. In fact, she had been there for me, patiently answering questions when I was too busy to delve into the nitty-gritty involved in monetizing my blog. AND! She got me jumpstarted after being up the wall for a long time stuck without opps just because I didn't put some info right! Yes I remember. That's why I'll always be grateful to you!!!
I just realized you already have this! But it's yours to keep anyway so please accept it! HAHAHA. You make my day!
The preparation for my high school batch’s silver jubilee is in full swing right now. For a while, a couple of friends and I who are here in the states were starting to get nervous because we were not hearing anything from our former classmates back home. That all changed after the last reunion which was held December 30, 2008. I started getting emails right after that and it hasn’t stopped since then. With the emails came pictures of those who were in the reunion. I still recognize most of them but I had to email a friend to ask who the others are as I don’t recognize them anymore. Most of them are heavier now while a few are surprisingly thin.
It turned out that a couple of them are not doing very well and are having some problems with addiction. It’s disheartening to learn about this since they were ones of the promising people in our class. I was told that one tried going to an alcohol rehab and was doing well until he lost a job. I guess personal problems made him turn to the bottles again. We have alcohol rehabs in the Philippines. I am not certain what the rehab centers offer there but if I know someone here who may need some help with alcohol problem, I would suggest Promises Treatment Center in Malibu because it offers individualized program. I like that idea since in cases like alcohol addiction, the rule ‘one shoe fits all’ should not be applied. I just wish they have this kind of program back home so my former classmates who are now battling this disease can be helped successfully.
Anyway, the little one has been using her iPod a lot. Aside from doing a couple of games, she's also doing some educational stuff using it. But majority of the time, she uses it to email.
Email who? The Daddy mostly. I think she emails him at least 4x a day. From good morning to jokes to what time are you coming home? She's the one checking on him instead of me.....isn't that cute?
Oh and she emails me as well not that often since we're only 5 feet apart most of the time. Guess what she emails me? This....

I’ve been quite busy lately. Not with work, unfortunately, as it’s kinda’ slow at present. But that’s okay since I have some other things to do. We got a mail on Monday from the school board here letting us know that they are now reserving spots for homeschooled students for the FCAT exam. It’s a test required by the state and is given to students in Grade 3 through Grade 12. Technically, the little one is only in Grade 1 but she’d probably pass the test if we let her take it but we won’t. Not yet anyway. Regardless, I’m going through the items in the sample test to see what’s covered and I’m trying to cover the things we haven’t covered yet.
Aside from that, I am also busy looking for a suitable template for the blog I started for my high school batch. Like I mentioned here before, we’re celebrating our 25th year and we’re hosting the grand alumni homecoming this December. It’s very much into a work in progress stage. The template I have right now is not a custom one so I’ve been looking for templates online that I can use so it’s more suited to the theme of the blog.
This is how I came across a website that offers premium wordpress themes. WP Remix is a website that offers 50 plus editable page templates to choose from. Yes, editable which means you can do some tweaking on your own if you want to. If you want to see some of the sites that use WP Remix, just visit the Showcase page and take a look at the different featured sites there. WP Remix also has an affiliate program where one can earn, get this, 50% of the sale. I may just join especially now that it’s slow on the work front.

Here are some of the reasons why it's the best job in the world...
- the pay...150,000 Autralian dollars which is roughly $105,000
- free airfare if I get the job [from anywhere]
- the job itself which includes strolling in the white sands, soak up the sun [aka 'sunbathing?] and snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef....
- TV appearances for interviews
- free housing in a multi million 3-bedroom beach house
Anybody wants to join me? I better get ff here to polish my resume so I can get on with applying for the best job in the world. I wonder if the husband would let me? Hmmmm....
A few months ago, I noticed that my eyes were uneven. One was smaller than the other one. I freaked out thinking something serious was going on with my eyes. I didn’t feel any discomfort or anything like that. Before I made an appointment to the doctor, I decided to wear my glasses. I only wear my glasses on 2 occasions, when I have to ride a vehicle or when I have a headache. Bad me I know. Anyway, I wore my glasses the whole day the time I noticed my uneven eyes and what do you know, it fixed the situation. So have I started wearing my eyeglasses since then? Umm… not quite. This is because I get rashes on my ears and ears when I put them on for longer periods of time. I am planning in getting some contact lenses soon to avoid straining my eyes which cannot be avoided because I work on the computer.
I’ve never worn contact lens in my life so this is all new to me. So I’ve been reading as much as I can about it before making a decision on which brand of contact lens I should buy. But if there’s one thing I will surely get once I start wearing contact lens is a LensAlert. This one.
1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Go to the 6th Folder and then pick the 6th Picture.
3. Post it on your blog and tell the story that goes with the picture.
4. Tag other glorious people to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog telling them about it.
Since I am using my new computer, there are only 6 folders in the Picture Folder and guess what the 6th folder is? It's Sample Pictures...LOL. Since I am a law-abiding citizen...err...blogger, I am going to post the 6th picture in that folder.

Speaking of resolutions, one of them if you may recall in my post is my aim to learn driving this year. We only have one car right now and it's the one that my husband drives to work. He said that once I start driving, he will get another one for him. But before I start learning, he has to make sure the car we have right now is on a good working condition so he's been looking into different performance parts online in case some parts need changed when he has it checked one of these days. I'm still a bit nervous about getting behind the wheels but it has to be done so be it. Wish me luck.

My father was the 2nd child in the brood of 6. He never finished school because he had to get a job at the age of 16 in order to survive. Because of the lack of education, he could only do jobs that didn't require any degree. Life was hard for him but that didn't stop him from living it and getting the most out of it.
While his brothers and sisters left the 'nest' to start a family of their own, my father chose to stay put to care for my grandmother. When he finally married my mother at the age of 35, he opted to live with my grandmother so he could continue to look after her even if he had a family of his own already. That's the kind of a son he was.
My father was my biggest supporter. In his eyes, I can do just about anything. With him by my side, it almost felt like I could.
Happy Birthday, 'Tang!
Technology has brought massive changes in the lives of many people. I am one of those people. Because of it, I am able to earn a living without leaving the confines of my home. And I can get in touch with friends and family thousands of miles away almost instantly. Unfortunately, it’s not all positive. Because of computer and computer games, a lot of people tend to stay glued on the computer for hours on end. Kids especially are prone into doing it. So it is such a breath of fresh air when I learned about SOGO Active.
What is SOGO Active? It’s an organization that works with other organizations like Coca Cola to get young Canadians, teenagers to be specific, to get moving, plain and simple. With SOGO Active, Canadian teenagers have the chance to know about the different activities in their community as well as connect with other teens and groups. This is what teenagers need right now to help them live a healthier life. And get this, something great is about to happen. Right now, teenagers from Nova Scotia have the chance to become torchbearers for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. How many torchbearers you may ask? How about 1,000? Yes, a thousand youth will have that once in a lifetime chance just by being part of the Halifax Active Halifax Communities. So if you are a teenager living Nova Scotia, make sure to check out this amazing opportunity and be part of something worth being a part of…SOGO Active.

Late this afternoon while I was pulling out weeds in the backyard, the little chatterbox kept on talking. Yeah, that's what chatterboxes do. This time though she was 'chattering' about stocks...as in stock market stocks. She's of course explaining it like a kid....to me. Ha!
How did she learn about stocks? Through the Dad. She saw it in her iPod so she asked the Dad what stocks are and the Dad so readily explained it to her. She probably thought I don't know what stocks are [which may be true...LOL] so she tried explaining it to me while I was weeding. So I listened....half listened actually as I was busy weeding.
When she was done 'explaining', I asked her if I could ask her questions about what we discussed in History this morning and she said yes. I asked her maybe 4 or 5 questions which she readily answered...correctly.
Her: Are you done asking me questions about my lesson Mom?
Her: Now, can I ask you questions about stocks?
ROFL....If only I knew she'd ask me question about stocks, I would have stopped weeding and listened to her...LOL....
