Magna Doodle...

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Magna Doodle ! This was one of the first things we got the little one when she started 'doodling', along with crayons, drawing papers, pencils, paints & what nots. But I can say, the Magna Doodle is probably the best one. Why? Because all the other drawing materials we got her then are all gone now, but the Magna Doodle , it's still here. She really loves this toy a lot. There is not a day she doesn't use it. If there's anything I wish this toy can do, it's to print out whatever she has doodled on it. Throughout the years, she has doodled some really good stuff on this thing. But that's the fun of it I guess...she can erase it right away then go on to the next doodle. Anyway, here are some of her recent doodles. Guess who these are? Yep, US! I think she's going to be a 'cartoon' artist of some sort. She's quite good with drawing 'animated' animals.... Anyway, it you have a toddler, make sure to ge
Stretching the Dollar
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This weekend, we went to go look at some trees and plants. We’ve been planning in working on the front yard for the longest time and we’re hoping we can do this very soon. The husband actually went first yesterday. He found the trees he wanted but guess what? They are a hundred bucks [yes $100] a piece. I just about fell off the chair I was sitting on when he told me. So today we decided to go to another place. Well, the prices are almost the same as what he found yesterday. I guess we don’t have a choice but to buy them. We just need to do it little by little instead of getting them all at the same time. We may also need to stretch the dollar some more to save some. It seems that’s basically the case for everybody today. If we’re not trying to put off buying some stuff that can wait, we try to cut corners or stretch the dollar. I for one does not stop looking, well, more like, hunting for cheaper services. Who wouldn’t want to pay less for the sam

Ironic

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last weekend, we visited our old house that has been in the market for over a year now. Yep, it’s been year and it’s still on the market. We almost had a buyer a few months after we put it on the market. It fell through though after a few weeks of negotiations. The buyer had a problem getting a bank to finance his mortgage so we had no choice but to let that one go. Unfortunately, that’s the last solid offer we got. The realtor said that she had people come visit the house but I guess we may have to wait until the economy gets better, a lot better before someone buys it. In the meantime, we try to visit it every chance we get to check it. The husband is worried that someone might try to break in the house so he’s looking into putting an Alarm System there now. We are about 30 miles from it so if and when a break-in or an accident happens, it will be hard for us to get there in time. The neighbor has been kind enough to look after it when he gets t
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Can I say it any better? This week, I've been meaning to do this: I even posted about it....but that's all there is to it....a POST . Hopefully, we will get the bikes for me and the husband ASAP so we can go on that family biking time we want to do. I wonder if we will be able to beat the heat though. I think we only had a couple of days of spring here that were pleasant enough to stay out. The rest were either rainy or way too hot to be considered 'spring'. Anyway, because of the the non-stop rain and the lack of sleep because of my RLS , I've been pretty much a couch/bed potato almost the entire week. We also had a rough night last night because the little one was throwing up. I've been awake since around 2AM and I've only slept for about an hour since then. So..... glitter-graphics.com

Shoes Here, There & Everywhere

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When we went out last weekend to run some errands, we swung by a shoe store to get the husband a new pair of shoes that he badly needed. He only has a pair of daily shoes at a time. Seriously! He has dress shoes & running shoes and he has a pair that he uses when we go out on a weekend. Anyway, I have only a few pairs myself and I don’t really need to add more pairs BUT everytime we go to the shoe store, I tend to try on a few pairs that catch my fancy. I’m a woman after all, right? Ha! And no, I didn’t get me one of the Rocket Dog shoes I tried on because it was not part of the plan. I was so close in getting the pair though because I really like them. Maybe next time… The husband was not the only one though that came home with a new pair of shoes. While I was checking out the cute rocket dog shoes in the ladies department, I thought of checking out if they have some cute pairs as well in the girls department. What do you know, they do! Now that th
Blast from the Past...via Facebook!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My former students in the Philippines found me in Facebook . They were my very first students...my ' baptism of fire ' so to speak. I was a wide-eyed [literally] 20-something first time teacher when I took the job. I wasn't a fresh graduate though. I graduated the year before. I took a year off after graduating from college to take the board exam and the civil service exam. Fortunately, I passed both so I didn't have a hard time finding a job when I looked for one. Anyway, these students are now in their 30s. I am only 10 years older than them. They were in Gr. 6 when I was assigned to be their class adviser so I was like a kid playing teacher. I was so rigid when I was their teachers because I didn't know any better. I honestly think they hated me because I somehow hated myself for being that way. But I learned to loosen up after a while. Somehow they started to become my friends outside the classroom that I was even invited into some

Speaking from Experience

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The weather around here has been pretty crazy the past few weeks. It’s been raining almost non-stop so our time outside has been very limited. My favorite past time which is weeding has been put on hold indefinitely. My in-laws who we visited last Sunday have been having problems with their TV. It seems the reception has been really really bad because of the weird weather. My husband suggested that they switch to Direct TV because during the time we had them, we never had any problem with them during bad weathers. As a matter of fact, we only called for their tech’s visit once or twice…and we had them for about 5 years. There are a lot of Direct TV Deals they can avail of which I’m sure are cheaper than what they have. The in-laws said that they were expecting a tech to visit them the following day but they will probably switch if the problem with their present provider is not resolved. Well, my husband got a call from his brother early this week.
How Crazy...
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .... is the weather here in the sunshiny-rainy state? One minute it's: The next minute it's: We just got back in. The sun was out and it didn't look too hot so I decided to do some much needed weeding on the flower beds. After a few minutes, the sun got too hot so we went back in. It's now very cloudy and on the verge of raining. If this is not crazy weather, I don't know what is....

Switching Course...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I first came over here, one of my sisters in law had a thriving career. She was in demand everywhere that she could quit her job one day and be hired by another the next day. Her husband was also in demand then in his field. He had his own construction company and he had more work than he could ever imagine. But that was about 7 years ago. Today, both of them are out of work. The husband still gets little jobs every now and then but it’s not enough to keep them afloat. So they are both thinking about going back to school as soon as possible. The wife just finished taking an entrance exam for a nursing course. She’s still deciding whether she wants to become an RN or go the shorter route of being an LPN. I’m guessing she will go with the latter because she can start working after a year or so. Her husband is looking into getting an electrician certification . He said it’s still somehow related with construction and when the construction indust
Contemplating to...
Image
Yep, still contemplating if I should start doing that. I probably should huh? I have to do a lot stuff today that I put off the last few days. Let's see, what do I have to do today? Where do I start? Oh well...I can't even think where to start..hahaha... I better get going and do first whatever takes my fancy. How about that? You have a good one, ok?
Exercise Time!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I feel so full. I’ve been feeling full eversince we visited the Philippine store last Sunday because I’ve been eating non-stop since then. This is one reason why I try to stay away from the Philippine store. I seem to have this urge to finish everything I buy there in one day. I’ve been jumping on the scale every chance I get to see how much I’ve gained so far…LOL. And yes, I managed to gain some already…or maybe it only seems that I have because I weigh right after stuffing food in me. Hmm…oh well, even if I’m not gaining much, I know I should start getting on the treadmill and start using my Adidas shoes that hubby got me eons ago. Aside from helping me with my weight, I read in one medical site that exercise can also help with my restless leg syndrome. I hope so because the thyroid meds I’m taking don’t seem to be doing the job with my RLS. So starting tomorrow, I am planning in doing what I should have done a long time ago when I started havi

Time for a Change...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I’ve been feeling lazy the past few days. I’m sure my crazy sleeping schedule because of my RLS has something to do with how I’m feeling. I just don’t have the energy to do much if I only get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. I do the things that need done around the house and that’s it. The rest of the day, I’m either surfing online or watching TV or teaching the little one. I have a few things I need done but can be done later but it would have been nice if I can do them sooner than later, huh? Instead of checking if Time Warner Digital Phone service is offered around here, I keep going to some social networking websites to see if a friend uploaded some new pictures. I’m pathetic isn’t it? LOL… Anyway, when a friend called me on Memorial Day, I happened to mention to her that I am thinking of switching to another phone service company that offers unlimited long distance that does not charge outrageously. I tend to wait for her and my other friends
Restless Leg Syndrome
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I guess the thyroid problem I have causes the restless leg syndrome or RLS that I've been experiencing for a while now. It's probably one of the very FIRST signs that I have hyperthyroidism which I didn't know of course. My doctor agreed that it's an underlying symptom of this problem. Anyway, I'm still having it and it's messing up my sleeping schedule. It's annoying to say the least because I don't feel it during the day. It's only when I go to bed and start to go to sleep that I feel it. I am hoping my medication will help solve it just like the 'bulging' eye. So far, not yet. The eye is almost back to its normal size but the RLS is still bothering me especially the last few nights. Anyway, from Wikipedia here's what RLS is all about. Restless legs syndrome (RLS, Wittmaack-Ekbom's syndrome ) is a condition that is characterized by an irresistible urge to move one's body to stop uncomfortable or odd sen

Susan Boyle

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yes, that Susan Boyle. The one that made Simon look like a .... umm... a fool? He actually said that on this video. He apologized for how they [mostly him?] acted when Susan Boyle first auditioned, before she started singing. Anyway, Susan made it through to the finale so here's wishing her the best of luck! I'm sure she has some really tough competition but she definitely stands a chance. Here's the video from You Tube.
Unplanned Day Out
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just got back home a couple hours ago from an unplanned day out. Mother nature gave us a great day today sans rain, thunder & lightning. I'm sure those who had barbecue parties had a great one today. We didn't go to any barbecue parties rather we did some errands like a much needed car wash, oil change, hair cut for hubby and some shoe shopping. Originally, it's only the husband who was supposed to do those things and I was planning in doing some much needed cleaning around the house. But he used a bait to make me go...Philippine store. The one we have near here doesn't have a lot of supplies compared to the one near the old house so I made a 'drastic' [LOL] decision and went with him to do his errands. As usual, I was able to convince him to swing by my favorite fast food place and get me some 'greasy' foods. That plus the 'supplies' [aka: food] I got from the Philippine store will surely make me need so

Another Day Passed...

Image
We had a very laid back Saturday as always. The little one was very happy because her "playmate" is home. She's 'giddy' as likes to call it because Dad is home. As for me, I tried [in vain] to take a nap this afternoon. I was nodding off earlier while I was typing so I thought I'd give it a try. Not a good idea. I'm just not used into napping during the day anymore. Dinner was good. I made 'chicken taco salad' for the first time. I always make tacos but I've never really thought of making the salad. I'm glad I tried it because the little one liked it a lot. She said it's the best salad she's ever had...and it's now her favorite. Ha! Her favorite changes by the dish so that may change tomorrow. That's our Saturday. I hope you had a relaxed one as well.

Cutting Corners

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It’s the Memorial Day weekend which means it’s a 3-day break for most people. I said most people because the husband will be working on Memorial Day. Yep, that’s one of the downside of working for himself. They are behind on paperwork because of the job they tried to finish last Friday. So while everybody’s home resting and having a break from work, he would be pushing pencils for a day. There are no barbecues planned this weekend around here because of the rain. But it’s ok because hubby needs his rest because he’s been working long hours for the past few weeks. He doesn’t say it but I know he’s beat so in a way the rain is some kind of a blessing. Since I knew we won’t be heading out this long weekend, I am planning on calling my friends who live out of state. I haven’t spoken to any of them in months. We don’t have unlimited long distance on our land line so I have to use hubby’s cell phone to make the calls because it’s free at night and on
CaliFARMia?
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's only of the names being suggested if the time comes that the state of California will be split into 4 different states . Say what??? Well, it's just an idea for now. California's economic crisis is played so much in the news that we don't really know anymore what's real and what's not. Anyway, the idea was of course brought about by this economic brouhaha in that state. " CaliFARMia " is being suggested for CA's agricultural region while "CaliDORnia" is being suggested for the 'bedroom communities'. Insteresting, isn't it? But...it's only playing is some people's imagination out there. The 'so-called' know it all [read: experts] are not buying the idea. I kinda' agree that it's far-fetched idea...maybe now...but it's still a possibility right? We'll see what's going to happen to one of the biggest states in the country...

Nice Weekend Weather!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Surprisingly I might add. I was expecting to wake up with the rain pouring down like the previous days but I was surprised that it was rather bright and sunny outside. Instead of lingering in bed like the past few days, I got up at around 8:00. The little one woke up early as usual. She tends to do that when she knows Dad will be around during the weekend. She wants to start her day as early as possible. But since Dad had long days the past 2 weeks, I asked her to wait for him to wake up instead of waking him up. So she had breakfast and did her usual stuff while waiting for Dad. We just finished having 'brunch'. I made some french toasts, omelet with potatoes & cheese & some watermelon. As usual, I was munching the food I'm cooking during the process. That means I probably ate the most here...and I'm still hungry. I've been having some problems with my tummy the past few days so I've been eating more than usual. That's th
Wrapping Up...
Image
Our weekend's weather forecast is still showing some rain in our area. Hopefully it's only for a short time so we can enjoy the weekend. But then again, Dad is home from work this weekend so the little one will be a happy camper regardless of the weather.
Holed Up...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...in our house. That's us pretty much all week. I thought we would finally have a break from the non-stop rain today. Wrong! We just had a torrential downpour in the last hour, with lightning and thunder to boot. The power was on and off before that so I turned my computer off. Ugh! Right now there seems to be no light at the end of the rain tunnel because the weekend's forecast is pretty much the same. Since we couldn't go out [at all] throughout the week, the little one and I have been trying to amuse ourselves with whatever catches our fancy. The TV is on pretty much all day. My computer is of course on as well pretty much all the time. We've been messing around with the webcam I have on my laptop taking pictures our pictures. Yep, kids' play. After our first 'photo session', I was surprised to see what I saw in our pics. Me! I mean my face. I guess the lighting from outside somehow highlighted every nooks and cranny of my fa

Billionaire Super Friends....

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unfortunately I'm not friends with them. I wish! Anyway, I just find this interesting news so I'm blogging about it. According to ABC's Good Morning America , some of the wealthiest people in the world held a closed door meeting not too long ago. What were they meeting about? How to help charities that are having a hard time during this time of economic turmoil. Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Mayor Bloomberg, Oprah Winfrey were only 4 of the billionaires who were present in the meeting. Not quite sure how many were there but according to the news , those that were at the meeting have total worth of about $125 billion. Whoop! whoop! Here's a picture I grabbed from the video about this meeting. Here's another one that I find cute. The "Billionaire Super Friends in Costume"...hahaha... Seriously though, I am hoping they can do something for those that need their help badly. Pictures from: ABC Good Morning America
American Idol 8 Blooper!
Image
Yes, a certain paper in Atlanta jumped the gun and erroneously reported that Adam Lambert won the American Idol title for 2009. Hahaha!!! Needless to say the reporter was probably rooting for Adam. Oh well...even Kris was surprised himself. Look at his face when he was named this year's IDOL....
Gloomy but Not Rainy...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So who needs diet pills ? Not me I guess. Well, it doesn't seem so anyway. It seems that everytime I visit my doctor, I lose a pound. Seriously. I definitely don't feel any lighter so I'm not sure why that is. Can it be the money we have to shell out everytime we visit his clinic? LOL...I guess so, eh? Anyway, I am not taking the weight loss seriously because it just doesn't show. Anyway, the rain has stopped here for now. I'm not sure for how long but it hasn't rained since we woke up. Hopefully, it will be dry enough for us to go out in the backyard to let the little one loose for a bit. She badly needs to run around to get rid of all that energy that's trapped inside her. As for me, I also need the sun. We've been holed up in the house for the last 7 days or so. I'm sure though that when summer hits, I'd be begging mother nature to throw us some rain. I wonder if she will listen to me after all the whining I did

American Idol & Dancing with the Stars...

Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ... season of UPSET! At least that's what some TV shows are calling it. In the Tuesday night Finale of Dancing with Stars , many thought that front runner pair Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke will take home the Mirror Ball Trophy. Not quite because Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas snagged it from them. I guess Gilles' fans didn't all rally enough behind him & his partner. Mark & Shawn themselves were caught by surprise but that's what the fans wanted...and so this pair won! How about American Idol ? This is a bigger upset I think. The judges, especially the mighty Simon, openly predicted that Adam Lambert will take home the title but boy was he ever wrong. I guess the Kiss of Curse that David Cook was afraid of getting actually landed on Adam. He was the crowd's favorite for most of the season. But I guess the clean cut, boy next door contestant pulled the biggest surprise of them all...taking the AI title under Adam Lambert&
Long Week
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's really a long week. Well, make that long 2 weeks rolled up into 1. Truth be told, it seems we didn't have a weekend. Yes, the little one and I were home but Dad had to work through the weekend again. When I say he had to work on a weekend, he would leave his normal time of 5 AM and would come home around 6, sometimes even later. I am hoping he doesn't have to do that this coming weekend but who knows. They have been trying to finish this job from a customer who keeps changing on them. The husband is sometimes at his wits end but he tries to hold it together since 'customer is always right'. Sigh... Aside from this job they're working on, hubby said that they have a few more in the works so it's probably gonna get even busier in the coming weeks. If they get everything they're quoting right now, he said that they'd probably need a bigger place to work. They have been dreaming of buying their own place actually so they a

American Idol Finale

Image
I thought I'd take a break from blogging about the non-stop rain here [and yes, it's still raining!], and post about this season finale of American Idol . As you probably know already, it's those 2 up top who are probably on the edge of their seats now waiting for the final verdict. So who do you think will be crowned American Idol this year? Adam Lambert or Kris Allen? We'll see tonight! Truth be told, I never really sat down to watch the show in its entirety. It's airing at the same time my favorite show is airing so I have to choose. What show? NCIS of course. The hubby though only missed an episode because I forgot to remind him....tee hee...so I'm still on the loop. I know he's rooting for one of them but he likes both. Me? I don't have a pick actually but if I have to choose, I'd probably go with Kris Allen. His music is more like my kind of music. There! Picture from the American Idol official website

It Never Stops....

Image
Yep, it's still raining as I'm writing this post. It just wouldn't stop. It would "pause" for a few minutes then goes on and on and on again...until the next pause. I should be thankful since it's been kinda' dry here but when you have a 7-year old who wants to outside playing, I can't help but wish a longer 'pause'. Oh well..maybe tomorrow... I had my doctor's appointment today. It's a follow-up to my last visit where I had some blood work done. The result was positive...in a good way, I mean. My thyroid still has ADD...errr....still hyper. In 4 weeks I'll be having another blood work to see if the meds are doing their jobs of slowing down my thyroid. If they're not working I have no idea what's going to happen. Maybe a change of meds? or maybe a change of doctor? We'll see. If the meds are doing their jobs, then my next appointment will be 4 months from today. Yay... The little one was excited to go out. Guess why? B

Scene by Our Window

Dramatic, eh? LOL.. It's been raining since last night so it's really really wet outside. Good thing I don't have to go anywhere today. I have to be at the doctor's tomorrow though so I'm hoping the rain runs its course today. Nothing much going on around here aside from the rain. I'm just sitting in front of my laptop while watching some shows on TV. The little one woke up at about 4 AM , yes, 4 AM because she was hungry...well, starving was the word she used. So I had to get up and make her some cereal. We didn't go back to sleep right away. When she went back to bed, it was almost time for Dad to leave for work so I stayed up a little bit longer to send him off. As soon as he left, she woke up again. Ugh! We tried going back to sleep but it was harder [for me anyway] than anticipated. It took me about an hour before I was able to go back to sleep...resulting to the late start of my day.

Free Credit Report

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Running a free credit report is something my husband does on a regular basis. It has to be done unfortunately. Yes it’s an additional task but it’s one of the best ways to keep the identity thieves at bay. You just never know who among those who have access to your information will use it for their own benefit so being on top of it is always the best thing to do. Fortunately, there are only few minor details in the reports that needed our attention in the past. They were on mostly on my report. But other than that, we’ve been spared from identity thieves. I am certain that being able to check our credit report for free helps tremendously in keeping our credit history free of fraudulent charges. The free credit scores we got from one of these reports proved to be rather helpful in closing a very important transaction we had the past few weeks. Our credit scores were one of the first things requested the husband to provide upfront when the husband went
Homes Loans
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was 2004 when my husband and I decided to start looking at different banks that provide home loans . We thought it was the perfect time to start our dream of having a house built. My husband did a lot of research on different mortgage companies even before we came up with the decision. We wanted a reputable company of course. We also started looking at different model houses around here and looked for the ones that were within our budget but good enough for a young family like ours. After numerous visits to different model houses, we took our pick. The builder we chose seemed to all that we’re looking for and the owner of the company was very accommodating. I guess we trusted them so much that when they recommended a mortgage company to us, we readily went with it. That was one of our biggest mistakes in life, unfortunately. It didn’t take long before we got approved for a home loan from the mortgage company the builder referred to us. We have a good cred

It Never Ends....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I blogged a lot about our weed dilemma in our yard. Well, good news it has been solved, well partly at least, as of a few weeks ago. The weeds that took over our yard are mainly dollar weeds . The husband has been trying different weed killers a lot so much so that he "unintentionally" killed the grass at one point. A couple of weeks ago the guy at the store recommended something for the dollar weeds. What do you know, it worked. Now our yard is almost free of these: You'd think we will be having some nice green lawn now that the weeds are almost gone. Nope! As soon as it got a bit warmer, these guys showed up... Yep, squirrels decided to come out and create havoc in our yard. They dig up so many holes on the ground to either bury the nuts they find or look for the nuts they buried. I thought it's only the squirrels digging holes. Then last week, I found a big hole on our yard. It's about 10 inches in diameter and about a foot de
Waiting Game...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Happy Friday everyone! Another week come has come and gone...and I can't say it's been a productive one for me. It seems all I did this week was sit around and watch TV every chance I got. I was planning to update my other blogs but...maybe next week, fingers crossed of course. Today "may" turn out to be a good day for us. I am hoping things won't change and some thing we've been waiting for will happen later on in the day. I don't want to spill the details here as of yet. I want to wait until it's all done before I share the details of what I'm talking about here. Right now, I am somehow on the edge of my seat. I'm trying hard not to think about it so I'm looking for an undermount sink online because we need the sink replaced in the other house. The husband said something is wrong with it when he went to check it a few weeks ago. Hopefully, I'll find one that suits our budget. Honestly, we don't reall

Raining with thunders/lightning What a crazy weather we have. It's been like this since yesterday. It was very hot until about 5 PM then it suddenly got dark. The little one was just asking me earlier why it's not raining. She checks the weather in her iPod and keeps track of it. The rain came in late so she started questioning the reliability of her iPod. I better get off here before my laptop gets hit by the lightning.

Home Based Business

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Being able to work at home is probably one of the best things that has happened to me. Just like many WAHMs out there, my landing of a work at home job was mostly ‘luck’. I was at the right place at the right time. But with one messed up economy we have right now, my work at home jobs have been slower than ever for the past few months. Yes, we get work every now and then but I can’t help but wonder if everything will ever go back to normal as far as the regular flow of work is concerned. Because of this slow-down, I am seriously considering a home-based business. Nothing too big or too fancy, just something I can do while I am waiting for my regular work-at-home jobs to get back to normal. Now, I know it’s not easy to start any kind of business especially something that’s home-based but with research and a little work, I may just be able to pull it off. I found a great resource article that presents some really good points on how to start in building a home
Special Cards
Image
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So I posted the 'bought' Mother's Day card our little one gave me on MD. That card was actually the last card she gave me. Throughout the week she's been making me cards and handing them to me every morning. I have one really sweet and thoughtful little girl. She makes every occasion special for both me and her Dad. For that I am very thankful.... Here are a couple of the cards she made for me.

Wrapping Up..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BODY WRAPS …that’s what I need [more like a want maybe?] if I want to lose the unsightly belly rolls I have. Seriously! I’m too lazy to exercise. I tried walking on my treadmill but I stopped because I don’t like it when I’m running out of breath. Dieting is out of the question because I don’t want to deprive myself of the food I like. I have to eat my rice at least once a day which is rare because I usually eat rice for lunch and dinner if I can get away with it. I am not willing to take diet pills and I don’t think I want to go through any kind of surgery to get rid of my lovely ‘handles’. So what brought my sudden need err…want of body wraps ? Mother’s day did. Well, not the day itself but what I got for the day. Since I asked that they don’t get me jewelry, the little one and dad got me the next ‘easier’ thing to get….clothes. I’m not complaining mind you. I love the clothes. And I could certainly use some new ones. The pants they got me thou
Mother's Day Card
She was pretty excited about this card. She said she chose it herself. It's cute, isn't it? Anywhooo....I'm pretty tired because of my lovely cold so I'll be blogging about the " PIZZA " I got for mother's Day some other time. This card was part of the 'pizza'... PS: The card is 8-fold[?] so it got bigger and bigger as I opened it...if that even makes sense...LOL.
Finding My Way...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How is [was] your Mother’s Day Mommies? Mine is going great because went out for a few hours to do some shopping. Ha! Before we went out though, I called my sister in law. Since I no longer have my Mom around, I‘ve been calling my sister in law instead. Anyway, they were on their way out of the mall when I got a hold of her. She said they followed the wrong exit signs and they ended up on the wrong side of the mall. Her Mother’s day went great even if my brother was not with them because he had to work. They spent most of the day at the mall that they forgot which gate [or was it door?] they came in. That’s not a surprise to me because the malls there are now huge so they have a lot of exits and entrances. Needless to say, the malls in the Philippines today are very different from the malls [shopping center] I went to when I was growing up. How different? First, I don’t even think we had malls back then. We had department stores which were main

Home Alone....

Yep, I am! The father and daughter tandem went out to get 'pizza' for dinner...LOL. Not quite. They've been gone for almost 2 hours already. I wonder where they're getting the pizza from that it's taking them this long. I know what they're doing....getting the little one's Mother's Day present for me. The husband and I 'pretend' I'm being surprised so as not to ruin the little one's joy. She's been bugging Dad with: When are we getting the 'pizza' , Dad? Hahaha...

Home Security

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Living in a house with a GE Home security system is far cry from the house I grew up in. I remember growing up in a place where people rarely locked their doors much less having a security system installed. Our other house that we stayed in for 7 years didn’t have a security system. An experience I had in that house was actually the reason why we chose to have a security system installed here in the new house. I blogged about it here when it happened but let me tell you again that one night that c0nvince me that some kind of a security system at home is a good idea. It happened a few weeks before we moved in this house. I was getting ready to go bed when everything happened. I was unplugging my computer when I saw 2 teenagers heading our way. I didn’t take my eyes off them because it looked like they were going up our driveway by the kitchen...and I was right. One was the lookout while the other one tried to pry open our car. I honestly didn’t k
Achoo!
Excuse me!! I think the little one passed her sniffles to me. I woke up with a sore throat and a painful sinus. I thought it's my allergy so I took my allergy pills as usual. A few hours and a few pills later, I started to feel yuck-yuck. Here I am trying to post as much as I can even if I'm feeling a wee bit sick. The little one is all better now. Not totally yet since she's still nasal when she talks but her sniffling is all gone now. All she has left is her very dry little nose. I'm just glad she was able to beat the cold in couple of days. She's a tough little cookie. She's very rarely sick. I think this was just the second time she got the cold. For this one, we even have the vaccines to blame actually. Her pedia suggested we give her tylenol after her shots but we forgot about it. Until 2 days after when she started having some sore throat. Again, live and learn. When she goes in for her very last vaccine next month, I'll definitely give her Tylenol ri
Of Building & Losing...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Let’s face it having a Bad Credit is something like a death sentence in the US. It’s sad but it’s a reality here. I had friends who came here years ahead of me who told me that building a good credit history is a must if one wants to survive here. I didn’t quite believe them honestly, until I got here. On my first year here, my husband started convincing me to have a credit card so I can have a credit history but I stood my ground and refused. But when I learned that a lack of [good] credit history may cost us our dream of having our house built, I had to give in. My husband is pretty much the one who is monitoring our credit. He has to since I know nothing about it. He runs our credit report regularly and he makes it a point to file a Credit Report Dispute if he sees any discrepancy. So far, everything is going good with both our credit. Thanks to him, of course. His sister is a different story though. Her credit was a mess. Sadly, her not so

It's Coming....

The little one is pretty excited about it. She's been fussing what to get me for days even if she's been a bit under the weather. I told her that I don't want her sick on Mother's Day and that can be her gift for me. Of course she won't have that. For the past couple of years now, she's been going with her Dad in getting something for me on occasions like MD. And when she goes with Dad, she makes the choice on what to get me. I told hubby not to get me any jewelry this time. I told him to maneuver her towards something else when they go shopping this weekend...but, she really wants to get me something 'shiny'. I told her to better tell Dad it has to be 5 KARAT ice....hahaha. Anyway, in case I get too busy with something else, happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there....
